Researchers Examine How Music Chord Perception Elicits Bodily Sensations and Emotions Through the Brain's Predictive Processing | Rising Star Giveaway - Reward 15000 Starbits (Ends 8 April UTC)
Music has profoundly shaped the human experience across cultures and generations, but its impact on our minds and bodies remains unclear, according to a new study. In the study, some researchers at the University of Tokyo, led by Tatsuya Daikoku, examined how musical chord perception elicits bodily sensations and emotions through the brain's predictive processing.
In this study, researchers analyzed 527 participants' responses to chord progressions and found that predictable music produced calmness and satisfaction, while surprising chords stimulated stronger heart feelings associated with pleasure. In this study, researchers reveal how Music evokes different bodily sensations, especially in the heart and abdominal region, and linking these emotions to emotional reactions and aesthetic appreciation.
Body Map
In the study, researchers conducted body mapping tests and emotional evaluations on 527 participants exposed to chord progressions, unveiling the intricate interplay between musical uncertainty and predictive error in eliciting specific bodily sensations and emotions. The research shows that certain chord progressions elicit cardiac and abdominal sensations that are linked to proprioception and are associated with aesthetic appreciation and positive valence. These findings in the study emphasize the important role of musical uncertainty and prediction error in emotional response and sound embodiment. And the study highlights the effects of music on our minds and bodies, offering insight into the potential connection between music-induced interoception and mental well-being, according to the research report. I already knew that music is felt in the heart and creates a feeling of calmness and satisfaction. When I look at it from this perspective, the results of this research were not surprising to me. Frankly, I prefer music that touches my heart and I listen to all kinds of music that touches my heart. Additionally, the above research shows that it is felt in certain parts of the body, especially the heart and abdomen. It is a fact that our whole body feels music, but the participants in the research emphasizes that it is felt especially in the heart and abdomen more. It's interesting to know that my abdomen feels the music, too, this research was very informative for me. If you have time, I recommend you read the entire research. Link to the research.
Music is powerful enough to change lives. Enjoy the music and stay with Love.

Undoubtedly the music impact never flies under the radar. Even in the case of deafness. Musical chord perception has impact on deaf people too. Despite the deafness, they can perceive vibration in the ground while music is played. Consequently, cardiac sensation should work, even to a smaller extent.
