RE: Splinterlands is awful.

I went over to Mr Plot's post and read over that before coming back here to leave a comment.

If a game is fun, it is fun. I was once a massive player and (for a time) a contractor of Splinterlands. I divested (and resigned) because (at the time) I did not enjoy the direction being taken by the DAO.

People come, people go. The other positive is that no one is forcing anyone to play Splinterlands, or stay within the "community".

The DAO is another positive element. You can make change happen. :)

You may want to tell me. At the time I was one of the key individual influencing the changes.

I am still one of key individuals influencing the changes :)

It was one of my proposals that didn't get approved. It was a flywheel of sorts, I suppose. It was also my turning (away) point, both objectively and emotionally.

It was about the DAO staking a whole bunch of HBD, and using the interest to buy / burn DEC from the market. It was voted down, but now I believe there is a similar function.

I think I felt (and I shouldn't have) personally attacked by people who at the time saw it also as a threat to the stability of HBD / HIVE itself.

Here is that proposal. I do not know if it has aged well.

Looks like it was not the right time.

Looks like I did vote for it :)

Splinterlands, at least some of the players, remains anti-hive. Even some of the YouTubers and SL content creators. I have buttered them up by bribing or by threat over the years, so now they are much more in-line. But deep down the discomfort remains.

Finally we managed to get ourselves $250K funding from the Hive DHF. Took me massive amount of work.

Its a process.

You are only but a single individual. We all are. But as a collective, we are sometimes weaker than the one on one debates that can persuade others to alter their choices.

Looks like it was not the right time.

I am happy to be accused of being ahead of my time :D

You are only but a single individual

A driven individual, or a small group of committed people can achieve a lot

In a way, we achieve a better and higher goal with hive DHF proposal.

See for yourself

Healthy. Is the HBD interest now compounding, or is it being used to fund ongoing prizing / development or as a market lever to do "buy-backs" etc?

It is compounding.

Excellent.

I could also ask my good friend, Mr Flesh Golems about this all as well. It has been too long since I've shared a meal with them. I am happy to look back upon the fun I had, and not with bitterness, but with all things, by choosing to devote attention to thing a, I am actively making the decision to neglect thing b.

Now that I'm unemployed and rather more "Free" with my time; I get to pay attention to many things, but not nearly all the things I'd like to, so I must continue to neglect some things so that I might love the other things.

He probably didn't tell you, as he a modest individual, but he is the "Chairman of the DAO" :) I kid you not. I say, I might have a hand in that too!

LOL

PS. it is mostly a position of liability and not power, but since we got ourselves a chance, why don't we mess with him, eh?

He knows where I live. I know where he lives. We can certainly mess with each other. The only thing is, we respect each other. He was even at my wedding. More dangerously, he was at my Buck's Night before the wedding.

Nobody needs to see those images. Nobody.

He has the position of power. There are always other elements.

Tagging @mattclarke so he can smile in the context of this conversation, and hopefully not publish those pictures.

In a way, you have to blame him for my presence anyway, he was the one that suggested I join (then STEEM) in the first place.

He was a bit under the weather for the last few days/week.

Give him a visit, will you?

If he doesn't pull through, I have heard he has left instructions with his wife to contact me to sort out his crypto-affairs. 150KM round trip for the either of us to see each other in the flesh these days, opposite ends of the city.

We do have a monthly meet up, which I bitterly forgot about last month. My car goes in for repairs on the 29th, so I will have to catch the train to attend the next one.

I still feel like hammered crap, tbh; but a bit better than yesterday, which was a bit better than the day before.

Thanks for reading both posts first! I, too, had stopped playing for a couple of years, and came back a year ago, just when the shift was happening. I'm now very happy with the new direction that the team is taking, that they seem to have learned from their mistakes and are trying to not repeat them. That will go a long way.

About the forcing part - correct, but some players are disheartened to see the value of their cards and assets having dropped so much. Which I can understand, it must not feel good. It's also why I always encourage people to see it as a game, and only a game, not an investment. That would take the fun away, at least for me.

I'm glad I didn't sell my few assets. Now it's really more fun than before :-)

Those are going to be worth $600 one day!!!1!

Probably not, but if you still have the account, you can have a peak and see if you like how it's going now 😉
