SPS Governance Proposal - Renew and Adjust Clayboyn's Contract
35ac5900b16ea161db7c72068cf179133ea273a9
About (skip to bottom for proposal)
The purpose of this proposal is to renegotiate my contract with the SPS DAO and to ensure that the DAO has continuity of service as my current contract is nearly at an end. I am making the proposal now to ensure that myself and the DAO have time to prepare for any necessary hand-offs in the event that the proposal is rejected.
It's been about two years now since I've started this job and it's definitely been intense at times. In fact, I'd say this is currently the quickest pace we've ever seen the company and DAO manage to maintain and that is very much a team effort with many people, including myself, putting in massive hours and hard work. Fortunately for me, I enjoy a challenge and this job has been many things, but never boring.
All of that said, I do feel like we need to address a couple of things in regards to the terms of my employment. I feel like after nearly two years most of you have gotten to know me much better, have seen what value I bring to the project and many of you realize (and often comment on) the countless hours that I put in on this project.
The hours part is easy enough for me as this is genuinely what I want to be doing. I have been trying to get better about making myself take a day off each week (which occasionally happens) and I did manage to use one of my weeks of vacation to visit Japan this year. My second week of vacation is actually going to be a bit of a working vacation in mid-October as I'm going to use it to go and represent the DAO at HIVEfest.
I love this job and getting to work for and build value for all of us every day. I'd love to keep doing it for the foreseeable future and I hope that by this point I've proven to you that my intentions are good and that I have no problem working relentlessly on behalf of and to protect this community.
Now firmly in my 'mid-life' phase, it's becoming clear to me that I need to be doing things to take better care of myself both physically and financially, so I'll be asking for a raise to help cover the cost of health insurance and offset some of the legal fees I've been carrying related to this position.
There have also been quite a few suggestions to make my contract open-ended and after some consideration, I honestly don't see why not. It only takes a proposal or resignation to end the contract either way. This should help to provide a better sense of certainty for both my personal life and the DAO.
All of that said, thanks for your time and consideration. Let's jump into the actual terms of the proposal that I'm putting forward:
Proposal
If this proposal passes the SPS DAO will continue to employ @clayboyn in the role of Project Manger until either the DAO submits and passes a proposal to terminate that employment or @clayboyn chooses to resign at the end of a monthly billing period.
The details of the employment will be as follows:
- The rate of pay will be increased to $6,000 per month beginning in October 2025.
- @clayboyn may take up to 2 weeks of paid vacation during any calendar year at times that he determines will not be disruptive to the DAO or ongoing projects.
- @clayboyn will notify the SPS DAO Foundation board of any vacation plans.
I wholeheartedly support this proposal. Clayboyn is hardworking and trustworthy, and has demonstrated that he is a great project manager for our DAO.
Thanks, I appreciate the support!
I support this as well
I support this with 6.1M SPS Vote
Appreciate the support!
An recent example, when my dec got stuck on the old bridge, he immediately got to work and fixed the problem in no time.
Once the new bridge was up, he did a lot of testing, was clever enough to get other opinions, and was also able to understand them.
In my eyes, clayboy is clever, motivated, and above all, feels available around the clock. Whenever I message him, I get a reply within 2 minutes—it's almost spooky!

I may be the resident vampire lol. On a serious note though I'm doing my best to get 5-6 hours of sleep a night and I'm trying to take Sunday's off when possible. In general though, yea I'm pretty much always around.
Thanks for your support!
So glad to see that it's an ongoing contract! I'd love to see more of these for the DAO! It reduces admin, gives certaintity and means we can focus on other stuff instead of renweing contracts all the time
Thanks for your support!
Without hesitation ❤️

Heck yes, I support this and frankly, I think the DAO is getting a hell of a bargain. But don't tell Clayboyn that.
Appreciate the support and I certainly won't tell him lol.
I fully support this proposal in principle but could you help us understand how your costs affects the dao overall?
Is it gaining or losing assets in total and is the cost run sustainable?
I track the DAO holdings monthly and do a treasury report. Overall we're easily gaining, but much of that is in tokens we can't really liquidate (sps and dec). I keep pretty close tabs on the DAO's financials and it's one of the reasons we've had to make moves like restructuring the development contracts to be more favorable for the DAO. We now have many assets in LPs and DAO run bridging to help offset costs. If the only expenses the DAO has are myself, cryptomancer and the occasional random minor expenses like serve fees and things like that, we should be good for a couple of years without having to remove funds from LPs or sell tokens.
$6,000 is money well spent and you provide huge ROI!
Thanks for the support capsu dingding!
Hai!
I must admit that I was originally sceptical about hiring Clayboyn to this position as there is no clear oversight - at least not without a delay and $5000 seemed like a hefty amount for an "unproven" employee with no supervision in a low cost of living country.
That said, Clayboyn has proven over the past two years that he is certainly a man of high work morale and with community's best interests at heart and even if 20% pay increase seems a lot, I would say that in this case it comes with some merits as he is no longer unproven and it would be hard to find a better fit for the role as no one else has proven experience on this role aside of him.
I will be supporting this proposal, but I hope this kind of pay increase of double digits doesn't become an annual thing.
Good luck and thank you for your hard work Clayboyn!
I appreciate the support. I don't intend to just be needlessly pushing up salary and in general I live a pretty lowkey life. Suffice it to say, not having health insurance was very problematic for me last year and it's something that has been on my mind for a while.
I was happy to support you the last time and you have exceeded my expectations. I'm very happy to vote for your open ended contract. Everything is looking like this Proposal will pass with overwhelming majority. SPS DAO has been fortunate to have you around. Thank you for your service so far!
Thanks for your support and I am grateful that the DAO was willing to give me a chance!
I wholeheartedly support this, You've gone above and beyond. Proven your worth time and again. Even if you haven't got your land in 134 going yet 😉
Without Clay I think the game would be a lot further back and worse off. All your efforts are very much appreciated. 👨❤️👨
One of these days maybe I'll run out of new stuff to try to buy in the game and get that land online lol. Thanks for the support!
I look forward to that day 😂
This is the best investment the DAO has made. Appreciate all your effort @clayboyn!
You've got my vote, of course! You definitely deserve the raise for all the hard work you've been putting in.
Thanks mancer, appreciate you and all the land work too!
Got my upvote you are doing a good job as well as the team.
