My Conclave Arcana pre-sale and beyond plan
The Conclave Arcana presale announcement has put everybody into planning mode, some people will be whaling in and going for multiple max sets and gold foil sets, black foils and arcane cards have got people excited and if I could I would be joining in and re-mortgaging my house (the wife may get upset though) so actually I'm not going to be dropping thousands of dollars on the set, in fact I plan to be spending $400 dollars, but how am I going to spend it?
We have many options this time around but what does each of the new packs give you?
Cost | Contents | |
---|---|---|
![]() | Starter Pack - 1000DEC/$1.00 | one guaranteed Rare card and four more cards that have an 80% chance to be Common and a 20% chance to be Rare. |
![]() | Standard Pack - 4000DEC/$4.00 | One card from each pack is guaranteed to be Rare or better. Common: 75.2% Rare: 20% Epic: 4% Legendary: 0.8% Gold Foil: 2% Legendary Potions double your chances of pulling Epic or Legendary cards, while Alchemy Potions double your chances of pulling Gold Foils. |
![]() | Alchemy Packs - 12,000DEC/$12.00 | Card rarity and Gold Foil distribution is the same as standard packs, except they contain one guaranteed Gold Foil |
![]() | Legendary Packs - 24,000DEC/$24.00 | Card rarity and Gold Foil distribution is the same as standard packs, except they contain one guaranteed Legendary card |
So my intention is to get a silver level deck as soon as possible, which means however much I would like to buy legendary and alchemy packs in the presale, to get the number of cards I require I have to go standard packs (no starter packs in the presale), with average luck and no potions I will get the following from 100 starter packs:-
Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
---|---|---|---|
376 | 100 | 20 | 4 |
What I need for a max silver deck is...
Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
---|---|---|---|
1,440 | 725 | 140 | 45 |
So I will be this close to my target of a max silver deck...
Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
---|---|---|---|
26% | 14% | 14% | 9% |
Not looking good. So why bother with the presale? why not just wait for the starter packs and complete my Commons and most of Rares for less than $400 and then pick up the Epics and Legendarys on the secondary market?
Two reasons, firstly;
Every player who purchases packs during the presale can receive exclusive promo cards:
- One Rare Promo Card (Arcane Skinwalker) for every 40,000 DEC or Credits spent
- One Legendary Promo Card (Gramel the Hunger) for every 400,000 DEC or Credits spent
Each promo card earned has a 4% chance of being a Gold Foil.
I have a feeling that the shapeshift ability will have a big impact in the Conclave Arcana modern format so having these cards will be important to doing well in ranked and tournaments.
Secondly;
Every 1,000 DEC or Credits spent during the presale earns you one Raffle Entry. After the presale ends, all entries will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of 71 random prizes from the pool below:
Tier | Card | Quantity |
---|---|---|
Legendary | Max BFA Legendary Promo Card | 1 |
Max BF Legendary Promo Card | 10 | |
Max GFA Legendary Promo Card | 5 | |
Rare | Max BFA Rare Promo Card | 10 |
Max BF Rare Promo Card | 20 | |
Max GFA Rare Promo Card | 25 |
I've not mentioned Black Foils, Black Foil Arcane or Gold Foil Arcane in my previous calculations as the chances are so small, but you have to be in it to win it, so I cant not be in the presale!
My plan following the presale will be to get stater packs initially to fill out my commons and rares (unless the value of commons and rares sinks too much, then i will buy them as single cc), then buy legendary packs when I can and hold them till the end of the airdrops (unless there is a must have legendary before then) then open them all up - picking a few epics and legendary cards off the secondary market as we go to try and be competitive.
Thanks @saydie for the banners, they look great.
Great article. It's confusing this time with all the different packs and such.
Yeah, definitely, if i had the spare cash i would probably pick up more Alchemy packs but for now its pure number of cards to start the new modern format with as many options as possible.

Sounds like a good presale plan! I wish you all the luck on your pack drops. I do not have a solid plan myself and will just be staying flexible, kinda wanna see how things start off before making any potential moves!
It’s going to be really interesting to see how it all shakes out. Interesting times
