Splinterlands Stats | Apr 2025 | Transactions, Games, Players, Price and More

How is Splinterlands doing these days?
After a very bad bear market there seems to be a reversal in the trend or at least a break from the constant bleeding. The SPS price has hit a low of 0.006 but now is at 0.01, in anticipation of a new card set.
Let’s take a look at the numbers!

The following topics will be covered:

  • Number of transactions
  • Number of games played
  • Number of active daily players
  • New accounts created by Splinterlands
  • SPS price

The data has been queried from the Splinterlands API in combination with the data from the Hive blockchain.

Number of Transactions

Transactions represent the overall activity in the game. Here is the chart.

Prior to July 2021, the overall data for Splinterlands was low. Then an explosion in the summer of 2021, the number of transactions went up to 5M a day, from the previous 100k daily.
The transactions stayed in the range of 3M to 5M during 2022 as well, but then in 2023 dropped by a lot, to around 800k per day, stayed there for a few months and a further drop in 2024 to around 100k per day.
It should be noted that transactions were intentionally scaled back with the introduction of anti bot measures in multiple steps.

When we zoom in the last year, we get this:

image003.png

We can see the drop in the number of transactions, especially in the first half of 2024, from 800k down to 100k. Since June 2024 the transactions have been steady around that number with some spikes in between.
In 2025 there seems to be a further small drop bellow the 100k mark.

Number of Battles Played

Here is the chart of the daily numbers of games played for the period.

image007.png

The time period for the chart is one year.
We can see that there was a shar drop in the number of battles back in June 2024, probably due to something related to bots. From 500k to 60k. Since June the number of battles has been steady in the range of 50k to 60k daily.

Number of Renting Operations

The number of renting operations has been growing in the last year and at one point there was more renting operations then any other operation on Splinterlands.
Here is the chart.

image009.png

After the explosive growth in 2022 and 2023, a massive drop towards the end of 2023 and again a big drop in June 2024, bringing rentals to an absolute new lows of around 10k per day.

Number of Active Players

This is one of the most important metrics for every dApp, how many active users have there are. Here is a data for daily active users [DAU].

image013.png

This is a chart for 2024-2025 only. In the previous period the trend is similar as for the transactions chart. Here again we can see a drop in the first half of 2024, and again a sharp cut off in June 2024. In the last period the number of DAUs is around 6k per day. There have been occasional spikes in the period with numbers going up to 16k and more.

New Accounts Created by Splinterlands

Here are the new Hive accounts created by Splinterlands on a monthly basis.

image017.png

We can see quite a low numbers for new accounts in 2024.
The number of new accounts created per month is in the range of 40 to 120. January 2025 has seen some increase.
As a reminder back in the previous bull market there was more than 100k new user per month for a short period of time.

SPS Price

At the end the price for the main token SPS.

image019.png

The market has been brutal towards SPS. The token was launched in August 2021 and was trading more than 0.5$ for a short period of time. It dropped massively in 2022 from 0.2 all the way to 0.02 where it finished the year.

A further drop in 2023 and 2024 reaching a lows of 0.006.
In the last week the token increased again in price to 0.01, but as we can see from a long term perspective its just a small increase.

Will it go higher this year it remains to be seen. There is some new excitement around Splinterlands as the new card set is about to go for sale.

All the best
@dalz

I think the main problem is the player numbers, we need a lot more.

When CL goes out of modern, probably battles will decrease

It seems to be picking up lately. Let's hope it's not a mirage. When Splinterlands did well, Hive did too.

You need a log-scale for better visibility :)

I use that a lot, because if you display data for today with data from 2021 it is very difficult to see.

It is difficult to reverse a long-term downward trend for the SPS. Splinterlands needs new players. Let's see if the new collection gets new players excited!

Thanks for doing these. Could you add in notable events like the rollout of battle passes and survival mode please? Be good to have that context.

The further drop from battles and rental operations from march to present may be because cards can only now be rented for a season.

People still have a lot of faith in this game and we will see that in the coming time the prices of its coins will be high and people will be very happy. Earlier there was not so much knowledge. Our knowledge about the project always increases after reading your post.

The bleeding in 2024 was brutal and honestly I'm glad I picked up some back then. I think the real pump might just begin to happen when the presale of conclave officially starts

I think Splinterlands is stabilizing after a tough bear market. The numbers show steady activity, with around 100k transactions and 50-60k battles daily. Hopefully the new card set will bring some excitement and potentially boost SPS price and user engagement.
