Power Combo: Risqruel Drath + Venka???????

Good morning Splinterfriends,

Today, I saw another Community Challenge that I really like!

#PowerfulCombos aka Dynamic Duos aka The Batman and Robin of Splinterlands... The Jordan-Pippen of Praetoria... The Shrek & Donkey of... of... ahh you get it!

It also suggested that we use things that might be a little different or highlight how they are in the Metagame or... my favorite... Counter Metagame - which means "beats the current power teams"... the downside against playing teams like this... they lose to pretty much anything else you go up against :)

For this post I decided to use two cards that work together with incredible synergy and... it has a little flexibility!

Card One: Risqruel Drath - the Legendary Furry Fury from Rebellion!!!

Paired with... Drum Roll Please...

Card Two: Venka the Vile???????

Ok... I get it - probably NOT the card you saw coming right? I mean... Venka is GREAT and all... but... WHAT?!?

Allow me to explain...

Risqruel gives all your critters Flying and +1 Ranged... The Flying is cool when you're in Earthquake I guess and gives you a smol dodge bonus against ye olde Land Lubbers...

+1 Ranged doesn't do anything for Venka... so I know... confusing, right???

But what about Risqruel's abilities...? Ohhhhh... Impede and TRUE STRIKE!!! 💡!

True Strike means your Monster will NEVER miss... No matter how Blind... How Slow... No matter how Dodge-y they are... YEAH I AM TALKING TO ABOUT YOU, COMMANDER SLADE!!!

Here's a decent example of what I mean... Slade was doing the ol' "Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and... Dodge!" routine... typically paired with his old buddy ol' pal Cryptic...

You know, I asked Sora to imagine Cryptic and Slade running around as kids playing tag... with the other kids blindfolded... Apparently Slade has been terrifying since he was like 8... 🤣🤣🤣

However... Using Risqruel to put True Strike on Venka and the boosted +1 Power + True Strike on Rush Townsend meant these two would be dropping BOMBS on the enemy team... and not like old school dummy bombs - precision guided Paveways and JDAMs!!

Yeah that's right!!! That's not the only use for the Drath/Venka Duo!! In fact... the other one may even me MORE useful... and I thought LONG AND HARD abo

...

Anyways... As I was saying... I debated whether or not to highlight and share this strategy this BUT... Here ya go... The ol' VENKA SURPRISE!!!

Dynamic Duo... BONUS Strategy!!

So the Angry Squirrel has the ability to ensure Venka will ALWAYS hit (and Impede) the enemy units... but do NOT sleep on the OTHER ABILITY SET!!

Taunt + Redemption

Ok....... so what... you can make them target a specific unit... and it'll do 1 dmg to it's enemies when it dies...

Wait for it. Waaaaaaait for it...

NOBODY SAID YOU HAD TO PUT TAUNT ON YOUR MONSTERS!!!

Yup - that's right... is there an enemy Monster you need to get rid of ASAP??? Maybe... A VENKA ON THEIR TEAM??? Use Risqruel's OTHER ability set to give THEIR MONSTER TAUNT!!!

Your whole squad will DOGPILE them!!!

I... well I don't actually have one in my recent 20 Battles... but trust me when I say this tactic is an AMAZING ANTI VENKA COUNTER!!!! Or anti Camo Counter - basically... if they play a "KEY" Unit in the backline... and you need to get rid of them ASAP...

Use Risqruel to GIVE. THEM. TAUNT!!

Venka will do the rest 😉
