CryptoRaiding Weekly Update...

This cute pixel game has conquered the blockchain gaming world by storm and is surprising players and investors with their innovation and development updates. The Cartel is already sending its own Raider into dungeons for loot and glory. In this article I present a summary of what our Raiders have been up to this week and of the broader game developments...

After the excitement and rapid developments of previous weeks, it's been a relatively calm week with CryptoRaiders.....

Raidering and Questing...

30BASH and the raider shortly to be known as 20SLASH had a very good week's raiding with the former picking up a 'Mythical Cowl' which has some insanely good stats, while the later picked up a Sorcerer's Cowl and a Spell Book, both significant upgrades for both characters...

I also decided to take out our two new recruits for a spin, through Momento Mori and Glimmer of Hope, so they are now both weaponised and clothed, at least!

30BASH, out highest levelled raider, still level 8, can now easily handle the new act two dungeon, from where he got his Mythical Cowel, fighting what I'm going to call a blood-sand-worm-thing:

He only got this awesome gear on his last run, so possibly we can do the heroic version of this dungeon next season.

NB there are only 5 free raids per week, reset is on Wednesdays, you have to pay for more raids, and IMO it's not really worth it!

In terms of questing we now have 4 raiders to quest for Grimweed and Eye of Newt and so we are able to brew more minor health potions - up to 10 this week, and the price of these has gone up around 5% which I find surprising TBH!

A quick note on how 'gear' works...

There are 'four types' (the way I see it) of gear you can pick up on raids:

  • Weapons
  • Armour
  • Spell Runes
  • Backgrounds (and other stuff)

The former two give you boosts to various stats, and with the latest update vary a lot in terms of dice-roll - generally they tend to give you one main stats boost (str/ int/ agi) and then one main minor boost (wis/ luck/ charm) and maybe a couple of smaller bonuses in one or two other stats.

The weapons have grades like in Splinterlands - mythic/ rare/ uncommon/ common - mythic, we don't have any, my main account doesn't have any, after 100s of raids, rare we have a handful, common is what you get 95% of the time.

If you're equipped with two rare gear items appropriate to your raider build (you need matching stats) AND you have a decent rune, you can get through dungeons up to 2 levels above the suggested levels for your Raider, but with naff gear you are stuck grinding through the regular dungeons.

Runes you can use once in dungeons, BASH for example does huge damage, ICE BARRIER will save you from some hits, while the backgrounds are just backgrounds, and tend to be deployed with the seasons.

GEAR IS CURRENTLY ATTACHED TO CHARACTERS AND CAN'T BE DETACHED!

This means if you want to get a yield from gear ATM you have to sell your raider with the gear.

There are future plans to be able to combine items (you end up with lots of duplicates), use them to craft with (I think) and to detached and transfer, sell them, but no announcements on the dates of any of this happening yet!

Other News...

The big news in Raider land this week was the start of Act Two Dungeons - although they are effectively the same as Act 1, just in a different panel, but what makes them different is the new mechanics of the gear being dropped.

There is now a greater diversity of stats on the gear - from lowest to highest quality.

Although I have to say that they seem to have set the bar low - I haven't yet had ANY of the old, regular gear that's better than my best regular gear from the last month of playing, so a 'wider variety of stats' seems to mean 'more chance of getting naff gear'.

Having said that, IF you've got a raider that can handle ACT 2, which means level 8 or above probably, the drop-chance of getting something nice is pretty good.

There is also the possibility of getting a Valentine's background too, but I think the chances are rare, I've had one across two accounts for about 80 raids this week over all.

There was a Fire Side Chat on Twitter focussing on the future road map - big thinking and long term vision!

This introduced the concept of 'rings' coming to the game shortly (Wednesday?) which will allow for enchanting and expansion of item stats...

And a currency bridge is coming shortly too, which will allow for easier bridging between in-game wallets and the wider polygon ecosystem, although TBH I think it's already fairly easy to bridge using SushiSwap and metamask.

Other than this I think it's all quiet like the calm before the storm - MOBS are coming soon, as is PermaDeath, but in the meantime everything is ticking along quite nicely!
