Your Next Door Otaku Artist | crimsonowl Introduction
Heya!
I have spent a ridiculous amount of time staring at the monitor trying to come up with words to introduce myself so here goes nothing.
I'm crimsonowl! If that's too long, you can just call me crimson. I'm from the Philippines but currently based in Japan. Currently counting the years till I cannot get out of here.
My username explains my love for owls and the color red. "I love it" is an understatement. I am also a girl with many interests, though. When I get engrossed with things that I find interesting, I try to learn about them to the T. To mention a few, I love art, crocheting, lettering/calligraphy, rubber stamp carving, Japanese language, anime and anime bois, fanfiction, bullet journal, blogging, and stationery.
I started my blogging journey on Steemit in December 2017. I was also here at the birth of Hive. However, life happened and I strayed away from blogging and cryptoverse entirely. However, I do not have access to my previous account now so I decided to start a new canvass.
After discovering the beauty of the cryptoverse, I rarely go to the main social media unless it's about anime news or scrolling for fanarts of anime bois I simp (cough Gojou cough). I like to dabble through a lot of topics for my content; anime, art, and everything in between. While some of them may seem to be about everything under the sun and pure self-indulgent at times, I try to keep things on brand and narrow it down to the following topics.
Artist
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. However, most of my adult life has been a battle with art block. In recent years, I just embrace its existence instead of stressing myself on how to combat it.

I draw in anime style (#animeartsupremacy !); trying to make a living off of it, too. I made a few NFTs and sold them on the Bitcoin Cash Blockchain. It took a lot of energy for me to be confident enough to show it to other people, more so when I post it online. But slowly but surely, I learned how to make art for myself, enjoy making art for myself, not for other people.
Making a life career out of art is quite challenging, to say the least, and I gave up on that thought too many times. However, art is like a ghost of the past that kept haunting me over and over. Also, in the years of suffering art block, I was so lost and so empty so that's why I decided to grab that pen and never let go of it no matter how many times art block would stand in my way.
Otaku
Alongside anime, I have also been watching anime as far as I can remember. Well, that sounded cliche but that's a fact. What triggered for me to dig a deeper hole into the otaku world is Naruto. Yes, Sasuke is my favorite character. As a matter of fact, my all-time favorite character (Even Gojo can't beat that). I am not the most versed when it comes to anime titles, theories, and such, and definitely don't have a whole room and lifestyle dedicated to anime but I like to collect mangas and novels of my favorite shows and titles.

As I am currently living in Japan, I make an effort to go to places that have been mentioned in an anime and go to live performances (of course, pre-COVID). As for my current obsession, you should know that my current poison is Jujutsu Kaisen. I've been trying to save my earnings to buy the volumes available and the fanbook. I even watched the latest movie! (More on that on the next blog post.)
Anime inspires me more than anything in this world. I am pretty normal as a human being; another face in the crowd but when it comes to anime, I've been told that I shine the brightest ever since they've known me.
Life in Japan
It was a long path to get to where I am today. My earlier journey into anime led me to learn the Japanese language. When the Naruto episodes on TV are on repeat, I started to search the internet for new episodes and discovered the Japanese dubs are way better than the local dubs. This might be the norm now but in my time, reading the subs while watching anime was a skill. However, I grew irritated and tired so I decided to learn the language itself. I have a total of 10 years of extensive learning under my belt and I am proud to say, I don't have difficulty living in Japan, language-wise, despite only coming here 7 years ago on 2015.

As a girl who grew up in the suburbs, the convenience of Tokyo was exceptional but boy, oh boy, was it the most stressful years of my life. Now, I moved to the suburbs a couple of hours away from Tokyo and I’m living the life.
Before Covid, I used to travel to Tokyo from my suburb haven for 3 hours back and forth every day. I love Tokyo since it is the center of anime culture but it does not fit my personality as a potato. Too much stimulation, too many people. I thank Covid somehow because I was forced to leave my work in Tokyo due to health concerns and permanently keep the root in my suburb haven.
I guess that's me in a nutshell. What do you think? Too much rambling? too little?
Well, I suggest you start getting used to me rambling as I will do a lot, a lot, of it in future blog posts.
That's it for now.
Remember, creativity is contagious. Pass it on.
Let's be nice to each other.
See you on the next one.

Greetings from England Crimsonowl!
Dang you can draw! And you're from Tokyo too! Excellent!
Have you ever seen the anime Cowboy Bebop? It's my all time favourite. Or heard of the old school manga Lone Wolf and Cub?

Take care and good luck on your channel! I've followed you to show my support!
Hi, Jin! Thanks for stumbling on my post!
Oh, boy, who has not watched Cowboy Bepop!? It's a classic! Even though I have not watched it recently I remember loving the anime. However, I have not heard of Lone Wolf and Cub yet. I have to check that.
Thank again for stopping by and for the follow. I followed you back, too.
Cheers!
Welcome to Hive! Am I so late? 😂
I guess I am months late. 🤣
Heyyyy OMG I so feel you!! I love Japanese dubs than local dubs too! Finally, someone said it! My motivation to learn to language isn't actually because of anime but it really comes handy, especially when there are no english subs, especially in the movie theatres!
I'm also in Japan by the way~ I hope we meet someday and let's go fangirling on the animes that we love next time! 😁
(I'm an introvert though, so forgive me but waaa it's so 心強い knowing another "like me" is here in Japan)
OMG HI!
I just started being active again but thank you, thank you!
YEY! Another otaku!!! Someday when we are in the same area, let's definitely meet! I haven't been able to talk to anyone other than my husbando irl because of Covid.
(don't worry, I'm an introvert too ;p teehee)
I noticed too, 😄 The time you weren't here was the time I'm here 😁
Yeah COVID sucks. Did you move away from Tokyo during COVID?
I moved away from Tokyo after graduating from language school.
I worked in Tokyo so I still traveled but I quit right before Covid struck.
My whole plan was to keep going to Tokyo and explore places I haven't been but alas, Covid had other plance.
