How the heck do I earn large upvotes... consistently?
One of the reasons I write so many helpful articles is to help others along in Splinterlands and Soulkeep... I also post charts and thoughts on the directions the market may be heading...
I enjoy doing this... however... this takes a LOT of my time.
I'm not saying my time is super duper valuable or that I am important in some way because neither is very true.
But I do see people write posts and get upvotes from accounts like:
@trafalgar
@threespeakvoter
@appreacciator
There's plenty more but I see those quite often...
I understand how the upvote system works and I know the content I write is useful and generally amusing...
But how does one go about getting those upvotes? I've been writing content for awhile and my posts are hit or miss - often my larger rewards are simply because I did a Splinterlands "Social Media" post or something like that...
But then every now and then I get a big upvote from AZ or someone... and I just can't figure out how to get them... consistently.
Do I follow those accounts? Delegate to them? I just don't get it and I want to improve... I like the Hive Blockchain... but it is hard to figure out how to get anywhere with it :(
Any help or advice is appreciated... other than "write quality content". I do... it just doesn't get the attention of large accounts lol.
TYIA!

I don't think so. I think post in more communities rather than no communities then consider timing as well. Anyhow, some people are just on their list I guess and they don't care even if the stake aren't being used to curate 🤣 and then they claim of not having enough voting power to give back to others haha despite getting so well-rewarded.
There was this post by @ph1102 discussing about it, I just forgot which one, there's too many of them 😂
I appreciate your thoughts on this!
I enjoy it but good lord it can take 1, 2 or 3 hours to write some of the things I write and to format them properly with Markdown 😩
I suppose that's a never-ending topic and we were talking about it many times in the #HHHLive show... Some of those accounts are "semi-random", but that's just my guess...
I suppose that everyone would like to have a consistent money flow from somewhere... 😃
Not that I'm judging or something, but do you publish consistently quality posts? Are you consistently engaging with others, visiting other posts on the chain, and making new friends and connections?
Hive is a different beast than other social media and it does require a lot of interaction, but that's the point of social media... After 5 years on this chain and creating content consistently, I can't count on these "whale upvotes" that you listed either... But, I do have many small upvotes from people who had some contact with me, and I had contact with them (with some of them even in real life!)...
My small advice would be... Don't try to please big whales with your content... Create your network of friends, and grow together with them... It is more fun, and more powerful, and you will "stay yourself" and not sell your cheek for upvotes... ;) Grow your HivePower, upvote others and their posts, and it will come back... Don't delegate more than 20-30% of your Hive Power...
Cheers and good luck!
Thank you for the input and yes, content wise, I've been told consistently the quality is good.
I often write helpful guides for the games I play and answer questions for people etc
However, my upvotes aren't very big as I don't have a ton of upvote power .01 Hive each. It does grow as I earn more Hive and deposit some as well.
I do try to go and engage/upvote others regularly... I guess I just need more HP and more time on here writing replies with people?
Not sure 100% but I appreciate the advice and I will do my best to put it to use!
Engagement is key to earn small upvotes from active users. If people knows you, they will vote for you. The amount of text that you write on discord, if you write similar amount not only on your posts but also on other active hive blog posts, that you increase your reach.
Only having higher HP and maintaining it helps.
Before anything, you should understand that this is a social media network before anything else... You don't HAVE TO write replies or comments, it's not a MUST, and you don't have to FORCE yourself to do that... It's something that comes naturally when you meet some friends and have fun with them... Hivians are human beings and they know to appreciate when someone respects their content, finds it useful, and leaves a comment...
It's something natural... you don't have to force it... ;) Have fun on the network, make connections, and earnings will come... People in the first place, money after that... ;)
this is an excellent advice
Thanks! I hope it will help him on his Hive journey, and to others who check this post...

Tagging those 'things' 'people' won't earn you an upvote:)
They only vote on 'trending' posts, question obviously is: how do you get to trending?
Eh?
That's exactly my question!
You previously told me, as have others, to write "good content" and "write consistently".
So write I did! I asked for feedback in many DM's and the overwhelming response was "you write in such a way, that it makes a boring topic fun to read 😊"
With that being said, I must hope that means I write in a halfway decent manner as far as quality is concerned.
The second part: Unfortunately, the "things" I tend to write about are not among the "super popular" or "trendy" topics... which leads me to the final bit:
Third, as you mentioned currently: "tagging those 'things''people' won't earn you an upvote :)
You are 100% correct but... I had exhausted all other options and wasn't sure what to do as I know my time is worth more than (.45 HP / 2) per hour... but I enjoy it... and the topics lately have been sorely needed answers to questions that aren't anywhere to be found... but also aren't earning upvotes...
So my last, 'hail mary' was to tag a few of the big upvoters I see repeatedly on the accounts in the communities I post it... in the hopes that the 'humans' associated with what I assume are relatively automated accounts (with some manual curation too) would see them and give me the advice I seek.
Notice I didn't tag you this time, as you have helped me previously and since I appreciate your help - I didn't want to abuse that 😄
After reading much about the Splinterlands and DHF and Hive in General... I have decided to work on improving this aspect of my life.
I am earning a decent chunk of SPS via Tournaments in Soulkeep (for a pleb)
I am currently botting Wild in SPl to earn a chunk of SPS there too
I am farming Grain and DEC via Land
With my Spl and SPS growth being streamlined as such... my focus becomes more on how I can be more involved with Hive and the Hive Ecosystem :)
Thank you again for the help, guidance and upvotes!
Cheers 🍻,
