Rising Star: What Would I Have Done Differently?
Rising Star Strategy: Lessons Learned So Far
I was really excited to get the Crow card -- lots of skill -- epic!
I might look back on this post as terribly naïve, but I feel like I recently have learned a lot about Rising Star, and I want to share my thoughts.
Do I need to include the standard boring disclaimer about this not being financial advice? If so, consider yourself disclaimed. Onwards:
If you are a Rising Star guru (yeah, you know who you are -- I won't bug you by tagging you, but you top 100 dudes know who you are already), and you have some brilliant rebuttal to something inadvertently idiotic that I write, I would be so grateful! I am not worthy! For real, guru dudes!
Anyhow, here is what I have learned this week:
It is actually possible to make quite a bit more money than I thought in this game. I know. Nobody is in it for the money. We're all here for the glory and the love of the game and mankind and each other. Right? But, I didn't realize the potential. I thought the 120 Hive per month (approximately -- varies considerably) I was getting from the game was fantastic, and since my fiancé cannot also have an account, it seemed limited to that. However, then, I found some comments embedded within comments that revealed what certain players stated they were getting on average per day. I realized that if (and this is a big condition) things remain as they are now, there is a huge potential to make money from this game -- several times what I am making.
I realized it had been foolish of me to sell my starbits because I immediately decided to purchase 3 x 36 packs (cost: 100,000 starbits each). Do they call them 36 packs? They are 12 packages of 3 cards each. Luckily for me, because the price of Hive went up after I sold my starbits, somehow, it seems like I am a little ahead.
When I really looked at my stats, I realized I had way too much ego (oops). I will tell you what I am doing to address it, but first I will tell you how to avoid the problem in the first place.
There are several parts to keeping your ego down. One is varying the types of missions. Another is ensuring you have more skill than fans in the cards you accumulate. The third is regularly partaking in music lessons. I did not do these things, so I have had to do some extra work to get my ego back in check.
First, I took my cards that had the highest number of fans and "parked" them. Secondly, I purchased cards that had skill only. And I have been taking more music lessons. In the game's FAQ, it explains which cards improve which music lessons.
I purchased a few cards to improve the production music lessons and I am working on completing several lessons per day to make up for the many days I should have had a lesson, but did not. Ha ha. Please don't fall into the same trap. There are instrument cards specific to improving each type of music lesson, by the way. That is another thing I learned this week.
See that big question mark in the centre at the top of the screen? It is the FAQ and it can be your best friend if you would like to avoid a pile of early, foolish errors. RTFM, as they used to say in my compy days (read the ahem "fine" manual).
My current situation:
Conclusion
Although it might have been beneficial to start off knowing better, I think I have done well this week. I managed to knock my ego from over 33% to 5% as I write this. I learned a lot.
I previously felt there was not much strategy to Rising Star, but I see now that I was mistaken about this. It is a deceptively easy game because, sure, play away, but your ego might get way out of whack like mine did, and it will affect your earnings.
I used to feel that music lessons were a waste of time and energy because they do not pay in Starbits. However, I now receive 50 to 100 skill points for every "Production" music lesson. To purchase cards with 50 skill currently costs at least 1875 Starbits. So, instead of considering it a waste, I think I am getting something worth 1875 Starbits (or more!)
The other mission I started this week is the Fan Club mission. I don't know what will come of it, but I suspect it will become more important over time and I don't want to have to play catch up again. My goal is to run about 4 or 5 Fan Club missions per week, at least until I run out of starpro and then I will reassess.
The last change I made this week was going mobile. I knew it was possible to generate a mobile link. You have to be careful because if you give your link to someone else (accidentally?) they can play your game! However, I find this really convenient because I am not always near my laptop.
This game is free to start playing, unlike some play to earns, and you can end up making what for many of us is real money.
I usually don't like to include my referral link for things, but, just in case I talked you into trying it out, and you want it, here is my link. Please don't feel obligated to use it, of course. https://www.risingstargame.com?referrer=harlowjourney
Until tomorrow!
Much love,
Harlow

Ego plays a very crucially role in game. It effects the mission earning. Good to know that you reduced it to velovelow 10.
