Hey Hive community! Welcome back to the CBRS #Podcast, episode 39! We’re super excited to share this one with you cause it’s packed with energy, great vibes, and an awesome guest, @detlev, who joined us all the way from Sri Lanka. Buckle up as we dive into what made this episode so special!

A Journey That Keeps Going

We kicked things off by reflecting on how far we’ve come with the CBRS Podcast. Episode 39 feels like a milestone, but it’s just another step in our #journey to keep bringing you weekly updates, no matter how crazy our schedules get. Consistency is key for us, and even though we recorded this one a bit later (and might shift to Sunday next week), we’re committed to keeping the Hive spirit alive. It’s all about spreading happiness and connecting with the community!

Welcoming Detlev to the Show

This episode was extra exciting because we finally had a guest again, @detlev! If you’ve been to Hive events, you’ve probably seen him lighting up the room with his energy. He’s been a big part of the #Hive blockchain for years, and it was awesome to catch up with him. Fun fact: Detlev was chilling on the east coast of Sri Lanka, in a quiet, non-touristy spot called Nilaveli, far from the usual tourist hustle. He even mentioned a recent post on Hive where he connected with a local Hive user @madushanka through the comments on his article, how cool is that?

We reminisced about past Hive events, like the one in Amsterdam where we served cold beetroot soup (yep, that’s a thing!). Those moments like the treasure hunts, expo talks, and after-parties—are what make the Hive #community so special. Whether it’s Warsaw, Mexico, or Amsterdam, Hiveians know how to bring the fun!

Detlev’s Hive Adventures

Detlev shared his story of how he got into Hive back in 2017, right after the wild days of Steemit’s split from the blockchain. One morning, under the shower (where all great ideas are born), he came up with #beersaturday (@hive-187719), a fun project that’s now on its 419th week! It’s all about bringing people together over their love for beer and building a community around shared interests.

But that’s not all, Detlev is also a key player in @worldmappin, a travel-focused dApp that started as Steemit World Map and has grown into a community of 17,000 users. He took over the project last year when it was at risk of shutting down, and with his business background, he helped rebuild it into something amazing. Worldmappin lets Hive users pin their #travels, share stories, and even connect with local #businesses. Imagine a map where you can see Hive posts, HBD-friendly businesses, and even Hive-powered Airbnbs—that’s the dream Detlevs’s working toward!

We also talked about how Worldmappin could integrate with other #dApps, like adding layers for Hive-based businesses or BTC ATMs. The idea of a “Hive B&B” layer got us super excited—imagine booking a stay with HBD! Detlev’s vision is to make Worldmappin a go-to travel app, not just for Hiveans but for everyone, with seamless Web2 to #Web3 connections.

Sticking It to the Mainstream

Speaking of Web2 and Web3, we shared a cool trick we’ve been doing in The Hague: sticking Hive QR code stickers on popular spots, snapping a photo, and uploading it to #GoogleMaps as a Contributor. It’s like sneaky Hive marketing! When people search for those places, they might spot our stickers and discover Hive. Detlev loved the idea and mentioned how Worldmappin users do something similar, placing stickers at businesses to drive traffic to their Hive posts. It’s all about showing the world what Hive can do!

Hive Summit Aachen | 22-24 of August

Detlev gave us the scoop on two upcoming events. First, the Hive Summit in Aachen (August 22 to 24), held in a former church turned into a co-working space called the Digital Hub. It’s a mix of Hiheans and non-Hiveans, with about 50 people expected. The event kicks off the day before with a fun trip to the highest point in the Netherlands (still below sea level, haha) and a screening of the #Freechain movie by @LordButterfly. Speakers like @roelandp and @sorin.cristescu dive into how Hive is used in real-world projects, like paying for pizza with HBD in #Luxembourg!

Then, there’s the Funds Fee Rents event in Dortmund (September 3-5), where Hive will have a booth to bridge crypto and traditional businesses. These events are perfect for showing how Hive can fit into everyday life.

Challenges and Solutions

We also got real about some challenges on Hive, like people trying to game the system by reposting content or farming rewards without contributing. Detlev and his Worldmappin team tackle this with manual curation, making sure quality content gets the spotlight. We do something similar with @Hive-Echo, muting users who only farm rewards but giving them a chance to engage authentically. It’s all about building a fair, vibrant community.

Another hot topic was the HBD supply. With projects like @VSC.network bringing in users from Ethereum and Bitcoin, we need more liquid HBD to keep up. Detlev pointed out that while staking HBD is great for rewards, we need more exchanges to make it easier to use. It’s a big discussion for the future as Hive grows!

Hive-Echo and Dapplist Updates

On the @Hive-Echo front, we’re thrilled to see it growing fast in just two months! Week 24 featured a call-to-action to connect Hive with X, and we supported Edwin Boyter’s post about a new Hive-related book. The community showed up with real, authentic comments—proof of Hive’s power when we work together.

We also spun the Wheel of Names for our weekly Hive-Echo winners, each getting 10 HIVE (supported by @threespeak): @smogg, @bhattg, @roswelborges, @rukkie, @kachy2022. Congrats, everyone!

Over on TheDapplist, Hive jumped from the bottom to #59 among 130 blockchains—talk about community power! We’ve given out about 2,500 HIVE and 500 HBD in rewards, and we’re just getting started. Next week, we’re spotlighting the wrestling community @wrestorgonline, check it out!

Splinterlands, VSC, and LCX

We wrapped up with some exciting Hive updates:

• @Splinterlands Conclave Arcana Conflicts is coming live this week, so grab your wagons and dive in for rewards!
• @VSC.network is making waves with Metamask transactions from Ethereum to Hive, thanks to @LordButterfly. It’s a big deal, but we need more buzz from the main Hive account on X!
• LCX Exchange ran a trading contest with 20,000 HIVE in prizes, but only $100 HIVE was traded. We wish there’d been more marketing push from Hive to make it a bigger success. Eventually we found out thar the total trading amount is about $15.000. Still, these are very small amounts and we paid 20K HIVE (for this). We don't think this is good marketing.

Looking Ahead

This episode was a blast, and we’re already planning to split the podcast into two formats next time: one focused on Hive news, dApps, and updates, and another for laid-back chats about life, laughs, and everything in between. We’re also eyeing a trip to #Aachen to hang with @Detlev and dive deeper into Worldmappin ideas.
