Watercolor Portrait Painting

Hello lovely people! Today’s art is a watercolor painting of a lady from reference. It’s been a while since I blogged here, decided to take a break alongside my mechanical pencil, which I’ve gotten a refill for now by the way ; ) . During the break from watercolor painting, I was able to purchase a watercolor art book to further help me on my goal to improving my watercolor painting skills !

The book is really really amazing, I even realized I’d been wrongly identifying some colors lol. I’m excited to see where this new journey with practicing painting takes me. Without further a-do, let’s dive into the painting!

I started off with a sketch after which I began touching up her face. I tried my best to make sure the colors didn’t bleed into one another. The fun part to paint was definitely the scarf. It was fun watching the colors interact. Although the entire painting dried very light, through reading the book, I realized it was because I used too little paint and more water, which was true.

Glad with how this painting turned out ; ) I’m hoping you’ll stick around to see more of my art!
