Painting Aquatic Animals With Watercolor

Hey there! Today’s art is all about sea life! I’m working on creating a repeating pattern based on fishes. I’ve sketched a number of motifs that I would be using in the final art, but then I thought it would also be good practice to render other types of fishes in watercolor, and dear friend, it was quite challenging!

Like I mentioned in my previous post on why the watercolor dried so dull, I decided to follow the book’s instructions and use less water where necessary. It worked! As you can see, the clownfish is looking super bright. I made a few mistakes with the first fish though, but I think I made up for it with the shells, prawns & clownfish.

Enjoy the process!
