Build Deck Per League Tranches, Like The Old Players Did In The Past

Helle Splinterlands Summoners

Welcome to my Splinterlands engagement challenge post. Once a while I am taking a participation in this challenge, because I think some of them are quite good for Splinterlands players and it helps me avoiding boredom in writing Splinterlands posts

So Today I will share something that might sounds lame for OG and old players, however I think this is what some new players are missing it in themselves. How we play Splinterlands has changed several times as time goes by, the recent one should be the better one however... Yes there is a however here...

Old players who have played for years know well those changes, why and what for. Unlike the recent players, they just come in and start playing without knowing the history or why it is changed or erased.

Learning all the pasts do not mean you will be great, but at least it will enrich your perception in building and playing this game.

So Today Topic is something that very basic, it is the league level cap.

Why This Topic, League Level Cap?

It started from few weeks ago, I could not recall when it was accurately. The talk about what cards he should buy. It was a weird talk actually, but I could understand why that dude asking it. He just got back to Splinterlands, seeing a bit, and later he was out again and not playing.

But his question was a legit one, regarding in the past he played during the focus point system. What was focus point ? I would not answer it, it was something in the past and not worth to remember.

However people who just came and registered recently, some of them did not know well about the league level cap regarding it was something we had for years. They tend to like some cards, buy it at high level, investing a lot on them, and do not get good return. Then they get pissed off.

I do not like mixing game and getting return, or APR ROI and other stuff. It is not wrong, but it is not topic I enjoy to talk about. However in Splinterlands, if you get less, most likely it is because you lose a lot LoL.

So What to do now?

First we need to set our own deck level, on which tranches you want to play? Bronze League, Silver league, Gold League or Diamond League?

My suggestion is always start from the bottom, don't act so smart starting from top. If you insist, let start from the middle then. Either It is Silver or Gold League.

As for your reference, I am a Silver League Player. I do not seek top level at all, I play mainly for the fun!

Setting Your League

Rather than pushing some cards to the max and you can get the best team for it, better you play based on certain league. In the past this was a no brainer, because a League it self set level cap which we could play our cards in. If our cards had higher level, it would get reduced down to the max level cap.

How to see which league we can be, the easiest way is to see on the tournaments. If you do not know or don't like Tournaments, just see on your summoners

I pick Prunda Undervesch as the reference, she is a common rarity summoner. There I set some blocks to divide the level cup of each league.

LeagueCommonRareEpicLegendary
Bronze3221
Silver5432
Gold8653
Diamond10864

now lets compared to Rare Summoner

I pick this Fithe Bladestone as reference. All league segment should be the same for the same rarity summoner. Let see the table based on this one.

LeagueCommonRareEpicLegendary
Bronze3221
Silver5432
Gold8653
Diamond10864

see, it doesn't matter if it is a common summoner, rare summoner, and legendary summoner, all have the same in categorizing the league level cap. Epic summoner is a bit different, but it is not something significant, so I would not discuss that here.

So when you want to build deck, don't aim individual cards and max its level. You must decide first which league you want to be and build the deck at that level zone or aim the league level cap.

Cards, They Are Not Typically Follow Same Logic

Ok I have talked about the league level cap or league tranches, then we can move on to the cards. You can buy at any level for them, the higher is the better however you need to know that each cards are unique. They do not follow the same logic for all of them.

Let's pick Tidal Tsunamist as our reference here. I mark two spot which is her optimum level cost-wise, which are level 5 on Her Silver League max level cap, and level 8 on her Gold League max level cap.

Having her at level 5, 6, and 7 is actually not giving many changes. She is stronger but not significant. Tidal Tsunamist is a card that very strong on Silver League Level. So if you want to exploit her with limited budget, stays on the Silver League, don't over invest on Her.

CARD HAS THEIR GROWTH TYPE

I have said above, Tidal Tsunamist is effective on Silver League. It means on Bronze League, she is actually a bit useless, she is not a competitive one. On Higher league, let say max level, she is still strong but maybe comparatively some card might grow overpowered her.

In General There are 3 types of growth we can find in cards

THE PROGRESSIVE

They just grow in straight line, so there is no optimal level for cost. you level up, they will be stronger. This card usually is not a special one, but can be a handy one during specific ruleset.

Anyu Huntswoman is an example for this case. She is not something that can be said as powerhouse, but she grows linear.

Early Bloomer

Abyssal Elemental is a perfect example for early bloomer. When you get this card at low level, it is already strong and dangerous. However as you level up him more, somehow you feel he doesn't change at all.

There are other cards that are early bloomer, but I think you have got the idea about them. Do not overinvest in this type of card.

Late Bloomer

This is the opposite of Early Bloomer. They are pathetic on the low level, however at later stage, they become ridiculously strong.

Leolin SIFU is one of them. At low level, she is useless. What do you expect from a tank that is not fast and weak against magic?

However as she gets more level, her growth by number and by ability are ridiculous. At level 5 and 6 she is already super powerful, and having her at max level with a melee mayhem ruleset is like a cheat.

I do not buy Leolin SIFU because she is only very good at high level, at silver level... I can not say she is bad, she is good but too expensive and doesn't worth for the price.

Ok I think I have shared what I want to say here. Thank you for your visit here. See you in Splinterlands Rank Battles!!!

Hi.

I think that only players with a lot of budget can afford to compete in high leagues from the beginning, because building a competitive deck requires a full wallet.
In my opinion, I think that you should buy a large amount of SPS and put this in "stake", then with the rewards Just start building or improving our deck starting from the lower leagues.
I like to use "Tidal Tsunamist" he is a great ninja who does a lot of damage to the last enemies.
I think "Abyssal Elemental" is a cool monster thanks to its ability to revive and cause a small earthquake that can change the course of the game.
And I love units like "Late Bloomer" that as you level them up they gain more abilities.

Nice post my friend.😀
