Meet Improbable, the startup that wants to connect Metaverse Worlds!

Hi HODLers,

Following all the different metaverse announcements and the fact that they keep coming I was reflecting on how will this work in the future.

Do you have to pick a brand/project/blockchain and stick to it?

I guess I wasn't the only one wondering this as Improbable is looking to fill the gap!

What is Improbable?

M² (MSquared) is a new entity that will focus on developing the Web3 tech needed to not only bring large-scale metaverse worlds to life, but also allow interoperability so users can carry over NFT assets and items between worlds.

Sounds amazing right if you could carry your splinterlands cards from Hive to some Ethereum metaverse. Seems very complicated though...

M² has raised $150 million in funds from Andreessen Horowitz, Softbank, and others at a $1 billion valuation.

Improbable CEO and co-founder Herman Narula described current blockchain bridges to Bloomberg

as “a fairly crude solution,” and said it would release a whitepaper regarding its cybersecurity plans.

This is crazy if you ask me... As far as I know these guys did not do anything yet and are already valued at $1bn while they did not even show or explain how they intend to bridge all these universes!

As much as I love Cross-chain bridge, they have been a growing target for attacks in recent months.

Late last month, the bridge that connects play-to-earn game Axie Infinity’s Ronin sidechain to the Ethereum mainnet was exploited for $622 million worth of cryptocurrency.

The website looks pretty cool 🤩
We really need such futuristic projects that may pave the way of connected metaverses. Improbable Multiplayer Services has potential to attract attention in Web3 💪🏼

Indeed, they are indeed very good with marketing! But I smeel some BullShit behind it as it was pointed out in the different comments.

It's an interesting concept for sure. Whoever can connect Metaverse worlds will stand to make a lot of money.

I am interested in how they will carry NFTs across to other worlds. It seems like it will be a huge pain to get a bunch of different worlds to accept items from another game.

I thought about this and they claim they want to do it but the other world you transfer it to also needs a way to materialize it in its own metaverse.

It seems complicated at the moment.

Pioneers in interconnecting blockchain solutions are the ones that reap the big rewards from the market share so is great to see one focused on metaverses as more and more apear.

Definitely a positive to see all this VC funds and startups coming heavy into the Metaverse. Connecting them would be very nice and a big help for mainstream adoption.

Let's see if they can pull it off :D

I think the Metaverse is so hyped that you don't need to have a lot to show right now to get some juicy investments like this one. A convincing roadmap should be enough.

This is an interesting concept, though so I hope they can actually deliver

I can only agree with you. Maybe I do not see it yet but in its current form, the Metaverse does not seem so exciting.

Unless, you consider our "digital lives" such as us interacting here on this specific blockchain dapp part of the "future" metaverse.

Metaverse is just being totally immerged into a digital world. We are already, but not physically yet I would say.

I played online games long enough to know that you need top-notch servers to support this many people playing at the same time.

Not sure what to think but I'll add this one to my watch list for sure.

Always good to keep an eye on new projects but usually, over funded projects that did not deliver anything yet are going to end up in oblivion 😅

Saying you want to connect Metaverse Worlds is like saying you want to connect the Internet to the other Internets. The entire definition of the Metaverse is that it's already connected. Pretty funny. What they are actually saying is that they want to create the Metaverse. No easy feat.

I do see your point @edicted but I guess they aim to make it easier/possible for users to transfer their assets/NFTs from one metaverse to another one. Which would be quite complicated I believe.

Let's see if they deliver but for now it has been all marketing and not much else...
