Skyweaver - A Week's Journal Progress - Day 1

Hey guys, welcome back! I had some sick days so I needed to take a rest, but I'm back and this week I'll make a post everyday about Skyweaver.

If you are not familiar with Skyweaver, you should definitely check the Cartel Post about it. [Link]

In short, Skyweaver is a TCG (Trading Card Game) such as Magic, or Gods Unchained, but a bit different, as they usually are one from the other.

Everyday I'll post my progression and some battles, probably even a video between some days. The main statistics that I wanna focus on grinding are:

  • Level: Every match gives you experience, and by leveling up you can get more Base cards.
  • Base Cards: Base cards are the basic deck of cards that the game provides for free players. With those cards you can build your own deck to play as you wish. There are a total of 510 Base Cards in the Game.
  • Rank: This is a very important part of gaining Base cards as well, since every time you rank up you gain a extra bonus of experience and that helps leveling up a lot. If we got lucky and rank up till the higher places, we can even earn some Silver or Gold cards, which can be traded or sold in the market.

  • Performance: I always like to check my performance in games and Skyweaver already provides some win rate data in the profile, so we're definitely not missing that part too.

In a way, I'm never going to prolong myself too much, but I wanna show you guys a little bit about Skyweaver and the mechanics inside the game (which I'm learning still), and maybe I can persuade you to try it out and see it for yourself.

One thing that might even call your attention in Skyweaver is the art.

Day 1

I have been playing for 2 days already, but I haven't thought of doing this in the first day, so let us cheat a little bit and call it the first day. In this period I have achieved LVL 26, Rank: Apprentice and 56/510 Base Cards so far. A pretty impressive begginning to me as we reached more than 10% of the base cards in such a short time, but at the same time it is pretty clear that things are getting much slower and more difficult from now on, so I don't expect to keep that pace through the whole week.

I have been playing with the Agility character, since I found her very enjoyable, but I haven't dig too much into the specifics of each hero and attribute just yet.

So let's see a little bit of battle just as a teaser for the next ones.

Last Match of the Day

We start the game with a mulligan phase, where we choose 4 cards out of 8 available to start the match. In this one I had 8 very poor choices to be honest, and I chose the only monsters available, plus 2 cards to enhance my monsters in the mid-game, and lastly a one mana card that I could actually play before we reached the minimum 4 mana that my monster required.

The starting rounds costed me a good chunk of my hero's HP since I didn't had any cards to play in the board I was forced to trade with my own hero.

I actually got lucky that my opponent didn't play many monsters and I was able to get board control at a pretty decent time, even though it was with a very weak monster.

Some rounds after that I was able to buff my monster, and after hitting his hero with Lifesteal I was actually better in HP and board control.

My opponent didn't play fast enough, and I established too strong of a board for him to deal with in no time, and things went pretty smooth from there till the end of the match.
