Purchased My First Hive Punk, Meet Dakota Wilson

I joined Hive around May last year but mostly lurked. I only started writing a few months back when I decided to finally take Hive seriously. Around that time I remember coming across the "Punks have come to Hive!" article, which you can read here!

Once I read the post I went straight to the website to see if I could mint myself one, just to try my luck out! but of course, was greeted with a completely sold out NFT project! (Congrats @themarkymark) I've been quite involved in the NFT space since the CryptoPunk boom, admittedly at first I couldn't wrap my head around images selling for ridiculous amounts of money but of course as time has gone on, I've learned and understood why NFTs can be so valuable to an individual.

I won't go into why I think NFT's are great as we all have our own opinion and thoughts about them but what I will say is my favourite aspect of PFP NFT's has always been the identifying side. I wouldn't want to purchase an NFT if I couldn't see myself as said individual going forward.

Now, that's not me admitting to being a zombie okay! what I mean is, "dubble" will now always be the zombie punk you see before you. I haven't purchased him to flip, or make a profit on. I've purchased him to be the face of me and all my content/activates in the digital blockchain worlds we all operate in.

And I'm extremely pleased with my purchase!

Disclaimer: I've tagged the #ONEUP community in this post as I technically paid very very little for this Punk which I will explain below and perhaps the community would be interested in another crypto income source if unknown to them, but it is not completely gaming orientated so if asked to remove this tag and update my post of course I will.

One of only 39 Zombies I feel very grateful I had the chance to snag him before someone else could, I never thought I'd get such a good Punk. I am not the wealthiest person so I've been on the sidelines the whole time waiting for the perfect opportunity to buy the punk that catches my eye and it's finally happened.

There has been a few prior to Dakota that have tempted me to buy-in but I've thought on it and couldn't justify the price tags for a PFP.

So when I saw Dakota listed today for 95 Hive, a page 2 Punk I figured I had to grab him before someone else noticed and took this opportunity from me!

I instantly went checking to see where I could gather the Hive from, I participate in a couple diesel pools and had nowhere near enough SWAP.HIVE, due to the overall crypto market being down I couldn't justify swapping any of the few assets I hold in my binance wallet.

I then had a thought, that I use Brave Browser and have been collecting rewards for the past 8 or so months since switching over from Chrome. Over the 8 months using Brave I managed to earn myself a total of 88.13 BAT (Basic Attention Token) valued at $0.80 each.

With my current BAT holding being in UpHold wallet I couldn't straight up exchange BAT for Hive. Instead I had to withdraw my BAT to a different exchange in the form of XRP which thankfully has an extremely low TX cost.

I sold all XRP for BTC and BTC to HIVE. I was still roughly 20-30 dollars short and needed to come up with the rest of the funds, I wrote a post about "Neon District" and how I made over $1000 on the game which you can read here;

I've been holding off on selling my assets in game until more updates have came out introducing new items which would be worth a lot more but I took the bullet, opened all my loot crates and started selling. I received Polygon ETH for my many sales which I converted into MATIC and withdrew it to Binance via the Polygon chain resulting in again, extremely cheap TX fees.

Once back on Binance I swapped the MATIC/BTC pair and repeated BTC/HIVE, withdraw my Hive finally and purchased my Punk!

Technically switching over from Chrome to Brave + Playing a free AFK Crypto game has paid for my Hive Punk which I will now HODL and use for all my digital profile pictures.
