Elon Musk buys Twitter: More of the same or something will change?
So Elon has achieved the unthinkable by major shares of Twitter and pretty much becoming the owner. Rumours of the deal have been all over the internet and word is that he spent something to the tune of $45 Billion.
So, the question now is what next? What are the changes that we should be expecting on one of the most popular and most successful social media platforms?
The phrase that has been bandied about is freedom of speech coming to Twitter. I must admit I've also got on the bandwagon because it is fun to make memes, but in reality though, I seriously doubt it happening.
The idea of free speech and complete removal of censorship of Twitter is fascinating. Also, the talks about making Twitter open source is also quite ridiculous.
I've seen numerous tweets from different sources claiming that the Twitter algorithm and various aspects of the social media front-end will suddenly be made open-source because of Elon's purchase. In 2022, people see a man that has accrued Billions of dollars and honestly believe that he will have some sort of saviour complex.
People fail to realise that Elon Musk is a savvy businessman that is always looking for his next payday. He is not going to be a liberator or anything of sort, he is going to cash out from Twitter by growing the stocks and making it better.
In any case, one thing that ELon Musk will not do, is suddenly make Twitter open-source. That will be like shooting himself in the foot.
Lets say Elon actually wanted to make twitter open-source, will this also translate to making the algorithm open-source? Will we be able to track the cookies and all that stuff that syphones our data?
Status Quo
There's a lot of talk about changes coming to Twitter but I seriously doubt that things will be dramatically different.
Free speech is a major topic of conversation but I seriously doubt we'll be getting anything of that nature. I believe that, at best, we'll be able to publish more shitposts.
The whole left and right wing political conversations have continued to dominate the airwaves. At best, either side will be able to share their views.
In terms of crypto appreciation, there have been conversations about introducing a Polygon Network wallet address to receive USDC support for your Twitter content.
Right now, there's zero chance of Dogecoin actually getting involved in Twitter. The blockchain or whatever you call where Dogecoin comes from doesn't have the capacity to handle something if that nature.
In any case, adding Polygon addresses to your Twitter account will necessitate the addition of some Matic to your balance. If that actually happens, there'd be millions of people adding Matic to their balance, and that could lead to a massive pump in the value of the asset.
So, when the Polygon bit is finally implemented, we could be seeing heightened interest. Thanks to Polycub, I already have a small amount of Matic and I intend to continue adding to my collection.
I suspect that in the coming years, Polygon could actually be the next Binance smart chain, with coin value upwards of a $100. If you think back, you'll remember this was how BNB rose to prominence and Matic is looking quite similar.
In summary
Elon's decision to buy Twitter will definitely have a ripple effect on crypto. Dogecoin may not be initially implemented as a payment option but considering how Elon likes the Shitcoin, you can expect some heavy shilling.
At the end of the day, we just have to watch the show and see how it all pans out. I expect things to be different but feel pretty much the same.

As you've rightly said, this isn't about saving free speech for Elon Musk. The man could care less about free speech, as his can't really be gagged. This is purely about business, power, influence and money, period.
Your MATIC love is getting unhealthy ;)

I'm just a humble farmer planting seeds and hunting for a moon bag.
I must confess the Polygon bit interests me the most... I expect nothing from Elon Musk than more of the same folly we have been getting from him ... but this was a good article over all.
Yeah. Imagine Matic runs up to $100-200. That would be incredible. Need to stack more tokens, so I can properly benefit from it.
My imagination on Matic tapped out at $20 before ... $200 ... YIKES ...
Remember when BNB was trading at $4-7?
I can't explain it, but I have this hunch that Matic is going to do something crazy.
This isn't financial advice of course, it's just a hunch and I'm going to approach the market with it. Nothing too crazy, just a couple hundred dollars. Then hold for a couple of years
I didn't notice BNB until it did that crazy thing... but I consider that Matic was around one cent 24 months ago. It has already done something crazy, all things considered... but if it were to do that again, it would indeed be $100-$150.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, it is crazy when you consider that anything within that range would easily put its market cap at over $1 Trillion but this crypto market is ridiculous lol.
I think what everyone forgets is that Twitter will still have the same people. Like at best you will have fewer people to ban. But it's still the same.

Exactly lol. People think Elon is some sort of saviour or some shit.
Dude is a shrewd business man and wants to make more billions, nothing to it.
$44 billion is a high price to pay for free speech. There has to be a business aspect to it somewhere.
