Byzantine Kitty Art [ENG/ESP]

Hello! A few weeks ago I was drawing digitally using Paint—a Byzantine Kitty illustration that I truly loved for its vibrant colors. Today, I'm bringing back this beautiful character from the Splinterlands universe, but this time I'll be using traditional materials to create it. I hope you enjoy it and join me on this creative journey. Let’s go!

¡Hola!

The first thing I did was find a small piece of recycled paper I had saved for a special piece, and then I sketched with my pencil, trying not to press too hard so it wouldn’t be difficult to cover later with paint.

In the end, I decided to use a pen to reinforce the final lines of my drawing so the dark ink would stand out when I applied white paint for the fur—and I could go over it again at the end.

Now the stars of this drawing are these watercolors I was gifted. Even though there aren't many colors, I think I’ll still be able to get a beautiful result. I hadn’t touched watercolors since I was a child—maybe over 20 years ago—so it’s an extremely difficult and unfamiliar medium for me, and honestly, I hadn’t planned to use it in this journey of learning to draw. At times, I noticed the paint came out too watery, and other times too dry. Also, I don't think the paper is very suitable for this material.

After a lot of trial and error, mixing mistakes, and dealing with my impatience that kept me from letting the paint dry properly, this was the result I achieved. I also used a small toothbrush to create the stars—a technique I used as a child after seeing it in a book. I don’t dislike the result at all; of course it’s not perfect, but I loved interacting with this new medium and opening the door to new creative possibilities. I hope you like it, even just a little, and if you have any advice, I’d be more than happy to read it.

I almost forgot! I'm sharing both the traditional and the digital versions so you can help me decide which one you like more. Personally, I really love the traditional one over the digital. Well, that’s it for now—bye bye!

¡Bye bye!
