Confused About What I Want to Draw, so I Decided to Redraw My Old OC

Hi everyone, meet again in my post about my art. It's been about 3 weeks I haven't posted anything related to my drawing activities. It's not that I don't make art, it's just that I don't feel comfortable sharing it with all of you because I ended the process of making some of my art half way through.

  1. The first artwork (the one on the left) is an artwork that I made based on a request by a user on one of the Discord servers. The end result is already complete and the user is satisfied, but for some reason I don't feel confident about the final result.....

  2. The second artwork (the middle one) is the artwork made from scratch (without reference to the character image, pose, or clothing). I ended the process because I wasn't confident when drawing the hands and chest.

  3. The last artwork (the one on the right) is a new character that I want to create from combining some of the existing characters. I ended the process because I had trouble making the costume model and I'm not used to having to draw full body.

The character that I will use to draw this time is my old original character. This character I used to have the power of the fire element. In the past (before I stopped drawing for a year) I made 9 characters, and 2 of them I've already remade. This time I tried to recreate one of the 9 characters. (that's the decision I chose after trying various ideas but the result failed)

The first thing I did, of course, was to sketch it first. (Every process, from sketch to finish I only used Ibis Paint X)

For the pose, I didn't take it from any reference. This pose is 100% just my personal guess. If it doesn't fit, then I will replace the part that doesn't fit. After finishing making the pose, I just made a rough line and started to make the character according to the example (don't forget to also give the color that looks appropriate)

The next process after sketching is making Lineart (making neater lines). In this process, there are some parts that I change or add. The most obvious part of the change (from sketch to Lineart) is the hair.

After all the Lineart has been created, the next step is coloring, shading and lighting.

I was confused when I decided what background I would use and could blend in with the characters I made. Finally I decided to draw an abstract background.

At first I just made a stroke and picked a random color. Then I changed the shape, duplicated it, rotated it. After that I put a transform > polar coordinates filter and a pixelate filter

Once done with the background, it's time to blend the characters so they can blend into the background. I added extra for the background.

where is the fire?
I can't draw the fire yet, so for now I'm not adding it to the drawing.

That's the process and the result of my art, I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for visiting my post this time. See you in the next post.....

Great work! Your post was selected for curation by one of @curangel's dedicated curators for its contribution to quality!

...unfortunately, it had to be excluded from curation because of the use of a service (reward.app) to liquify rewards. Our upvotes are reserved for content which is created with a commitment to long term growth and decentralization of Hive Power.

This exclusion only applies to this and eventually other future liquified posts and not all your publications in general.

Take care and hive five!

Too bad, usually I don't use reward.app for my every Art post. However, because my previous art posts didn't get much attention, I tried to use reward.app to be able to reach my monthly target first.

But I respect your decision, and thank you for informing (because this is new info for me)

You did the fire pretty well in the original one, or are you not so happy with that now?
