Free-to-Play Frontier — a player’s update and why you should try it
I’m just a player in the Splinterlands community — not a developer — but I wanted to share a clear, simple update because this matters for everyone jumping in.
The Splinterlands team recently launched a Free-to-Play Frontier mode and the early results are impressive. Here’s what was announced (plain and simple):
●It’s totally free to play. No upfront cost to start.
●You can win cards by playing. Progress and rewards come from gameplay.
●No staking or crypto knowledge needed. You don’t need experience with tokens or wallets to get started.
●New raffles with special cards are being run for players.
What the team handled behind the scenes (so the experience stays smooth):
●They fixed several exploits quickly — the team acted fast (under two weeks).
●They built monitoring tools to measure and watch new player activity.
●They managed liquidity and set up a scalable system so the game can grow.
●Importantly: they say this was done without lowering rewards in the Premium version of the game.
Result: in less than two weeks, Frontier has more accounts playing than all other modes combined.
Why this matters for players
●Lower barrier to entry — anyone can try the game and earn by playing.
●If you’ve been curious but worried about crypto or staking — this is an easy way to start.
●More players = a healthier community and more activity for everyone.
How I’m planning to use Frontier (and ideas if you want to join)
●Try a few daily matches to earn cards and learn the battle flow.
●Keep an eye on community raffles — special cards may appear.
