Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 10

Prelude
A brand new week has started and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. Conclave Arcana is upon us really soon and we definitely have to keep up with understanding the Rebellion core set in terms of its capabilities and blending them together with the new set. I will continue sharing on 2 cards from the Rebellion Core set today as we embrace the arrival of Conclave Arcana really soon.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and progressing into water splinter by looking at another 2 of the epic cards from the Rebellion core set.

Thanalorian Scion

The first water splinter epic card that we will reviewing today will be Thanalorian Scion. At one glance, you will be thinking how am I going to use this card that just has only 1 health. This card is extremely delicate and please do not use it in Noxious Fumes matchup since this card will only last 1 round at most. This card is a magic tank which can sustain through big time punishment from magic attacks as it offers a whopping 10 armour with Void Armour and anyone who strikes it will get their own armour wrecked. If the summoner is Elias Max Pruitt, this card will shine even better when give the ability to strike with her armour. Equalizer will be something that works well for her since everyone will have the same health and she can capitalize from this. A card that is of very specific use and in general unlikely will appear in my selection unless I can have Elias Max Pruitt in my hands.

Captain Fellblade

The next card we will look at will be Captain Fellblade. I have been looking at this card for the longest of time since Rebellion first released. Artwork wise it looked really cool. In terms of stat line, really impressive and not exactly squishy. With the sneak ability, this card need not be placed right in front of the lineup and can hide deep within the lineup and do its job. Having magic sneak is amazing since it card zap from the back. Dumacke Orc that is placed to hold the backline will be wrecked so easily by this card. Many of the squishier backline sneak cards will need to be mindful as this card can strike you back even harder. When levelled up, it gives Strengthen which is a good buff for the whole team for additional 1 health. Not much to nit pick on, a good card that is suitable for most lineup.

Assessment
These are the 2 epic cards for water splinter. I certainly like Captain Fellblade more because of her versatility and she does have a special mission to wreck opponent cards from the back, also the magic sneak bypasses armour and strike those little critter at the back. Thanalorian Scion on the other hand works well with a specific summoner but the 1 health is really shaky and prone to shatter which will leave her wide open.

Rating wise for both the cards, I would say Thanalorian Scion would probably score a rating of 3.2/5, a little not flexible for this card due to the way her stats are being setup. The low rating is due to it being unable to perform for some matches, but when given the right conditions, this card is not easy to beat. For Captain Fellblade, this look like a complete ranger card that has both the capability of melee and mana and able to strike from the back while the rest attack from the front. Rating wise I would give Captain Fellblade a 4.2/5 stars for how good she is and giving water splinter a very strong card in the arsenal. In terms of adding into the collection, Captain Fellblade will be a priority and she works well even at level 1 but higher levels allow her to give a boost to the whole lineup. As for Thanalorian Scion, I will monitor and see if there are other synergies that can give her a stronger lineup presence.

Wrap Up
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, if you are uncertain, there is training mode available for you to test these card out and try out how it can perform before purchasing or renting.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
