A Chicken with a Shield
I like a bit of irony in life and that is no different when I am playing Splinterlands. Due to this, I think I just had...
My most satisfying win ever!
The Summoners:
The match up:
Who's going to win?

Mano a Mano
Tank v Tank
StoneSplitter Orc V Level 1 Chicken
Paired with the Llama, the Orc is stronger, faster, has Enrage, Retaliate and 13 health....
The chicken doesn't even have an attack.
I'm the Chicken.
Let's Roll....

Round 1... O-ooh!
It wasn't looking good for me, with a huge +12 Melee incoming and all I had to defend myself with was 2 shield and a thorns reflect. The orc was looking pretty confident.
Round 2.... Shield intact
Round 3... Still a Shield
Round 4.... All over
It was all over, with a Level 1 Chicken with thorns from Mylor, destroying a StoneSplitter Orc on Last Stand with Scarred Llama Mage. But, it was a team effort.
I didn't come alone.
Unlike at home.
And after the add-ons were applied:
Who's the hero of this story?
It would be easy to say the most furious of the furious chickens, but it is not to be - the true hero is a heroin, Epona and her "repair" attribute, which kept putting that shield up to take whatever the Orc was laying down, no matter how hard it hit. As the orc has no repair and no heal, even with the cleanse from the Llama at the start of the round, Blight was using magic and dropping poison, with the Queen adding her bit to the mix and the thorns of the chicken, chipping away two points of shield or health per round.
If there was another tank in that position that heal (Flesh Golem costs 6 mana), this round would have been lost, as it would have run all the way to fatigue and kept healing. However, on this day, two cards without attacks, pulled down a Stonesplitter Orc to ensure all their friends walked away untouched from the battlefield.
I love unexpected wins!
I love the wins where the last hit to kill a behemoth monster, is made by the weakest card. I love it when the win comes from a reflection, rather than an attack.
I love the "Monty Python-esqueness" of it.
Especially after so many losses.
I have taken a hammering so far this season.
Not what I was aiming for, but the competition is fierce, especially to get into Champions, as the prize money for wins is insanely high, giving a massive incentive to get there. I am still a long way away. But there are still a few days left to make a push - once my ECR recovers, as it is sitting at 50% most of the time.
Perhaps I will catch a break with so many people being at the inaugural Splinterfest event in Las Vegas.
Have fun everyone!

This is your third post today! How do you do that? I'm lucky to get one in a week. I wasn't always that way. hm...
I used to post more, but I don't since I started earning more. I used to write about 6000 words a day. However, these days I don't have a lot of time, so sometimes barely manage one, but I try to make every post valuable for the audience in some way, though not every post is totally valuable for everyone in the audience.
There are so many interesting things in this world to explore - why not write about our thoughts?
So they are all freewrites? You have a most interesting way of being. I'm pretty sure I don't think this much
Yeah, they are all freewrites. I write as I can and post, generally writing in one sitting and posting immediately as I finish, unless I get interrupted by family or work.
I find that freewriting is more authentic for my style and process. Too much planning gets in the way of flow and edits out fun and emotion.
I think a lot, though it has changed and become far more difficult since the stroke. Flow state is no longer easy to find, but it is very easy to break now.
This game does not let me go) Today I played a tournament with alpha cards for the first time. Haven't seen the results yet.
Hope you do well!
I played a wild tournament, but missed the cut to go to round two.
Unreal lol. Nice set up.
Now I need to buy that card haha
Granted, any of the cards would have served as the tank, but there is something special about having the chicken there :)
Such a cool win; that Llama sure is strong, but gee it needs to play with someone with a heal skill. Your Epona was beyond brilliant ;) Good stuff.
It really was satisfying to watch - I have watched it a few times - like a meditation :D
With so many of the new cards having the regenerate armour skill, and magic hit armour before health - there are so many increasing ways to frustrate opponents. It certainly devalues Llama somewhat.
That battle was a hoot to watch.
I’ve given up on playing the Wild format, just Modern for me. I’ve only been dinking around with Splinterlands for a year now, so have mostly newer cards anyway.
The competition is so tight in Modern and at the top end, there aren't that many rounds being played, making it hard to climb.
Great fun (in diamond/champ) at low mana, is Tank, Ant Miners, and Flame Monkey.
So many times, they get through my tank, then struggle to punch through Ant Miner's armour, against Flame Monkey's repair. Throw in a serpentine spy somewhere, and all those opportunity kills add to Ant miner's health (through scavenge), so even if there are a few low damage, magic support enemies left, they struggle to chip away at Ant Miner's health.
It's been great for rentals. Particularly max cards. I'm normally glad to see 13K DEC/day at EOS. I'm over 16K right now with 6 days left.
I get screwed over by this often and I don't have a serpentine soldier or a spy - my Fire is lame! :D
The rental values are up a lot, which is great, but I also have to rent a lot to compete and there is hardly anything on the market available.
congrats may you get to enjoy your play
:)
Very impressive victory . Congrats. I also like winning with monster who doesn't have any attack. that happens rarely but is a lot of fun.
Winning with no attack feels like a more important battle - like extra skill was needed or something. It is like those martial arts that use the power of the opponent against themselves.
Wow! Nice win. I thought you only have Furious Chicken. 😂
Now that would have been impressive!! :D
What a great chicken battle! ~@clove71

Thanks @clove71! :)
Not to laugh about it, but search online 'Chicken with arms'
Do you know the legendary chicken card - Mighty Dricken ?
Posted using Splintertalk
Weird - I feel like hot wings now...
I don't think I have ever seen one in battle.
That's because there is only one - unique card. It may be worth tens of thousand dollars.

Haha that was a fun battle and love the write up! I recently won a Llama/Kron combination with an average deck of Death Level 1 cards, made my day too!
It's the "support the underdog" mentality from Australia :)
Hahah. This is brilliant. No wonder Epona is expensive. 2 mana cost and a great ability.
