Hello there! @saydie here, manually playing Splinterlands everyday!

By the writing of this post, there was about 1.5 days left before the Conclave Arcana presale. This will be the 6th core card set that comes after Rebellion and will replace Chaos Legion in the modern format. Aside from bringing new mechanics to the game, it also introduces new foil of cards for the first time with Black and Arcane Foils. But another thing that Conclave Arcana brings to the table are the different types of card pack to cater for different magnitudes of investment.

And so, for this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I will be looking on the different types of packs for #ConclaveArcana , how they differ from each other and my plans for the upcoming presale.

Different Pack types

Aside from the previous booster pack, there will be three new card packs that will be available for Conclave Arcana. They come with different price value but at the same time, they also have different odds of pulling high rarity cards, specially the Black and Arcane Foil cards. This will be available in the Splinterlands Store once the presale starts and tradeable in Hive Engine.

Starter Packs

Starter Pack.png

Starter pack is a new pack type that is designed to be a more accessible and affordable entry point for new and returning players which can be purchased with 1,000 DEC or 1$ of Credits. Unlike the previous booster pack, Starter pack only contains 1 guaranteed Rare card with the rest of the cards to have 20% chance to become Rare and 80% chance to be Common. They will not contain Epic, Legendary and Special Foil cards so opening Starter packs does not require the use of potion. Starter packs also won't be available in the upcoming presale but will be available in the shop until the release of a new set to make sure that new players have access to discounted packs.

Standard Packs

Standard pack works the same as the previous Booster pack and will be sold for 4,000 DEC or 4$ of Credits. It also has the same odds with the previous set except that it also has the chance to pull Black and Arcane Foil cards. One card from each pack is guaranteed to be Rare or better and you can use Legendary and Alchemy potions to double the chance of pulling Epic or Legendary cards as well as to the odds of a card to be gold Foil. A new potion called Midnight potions can also be used to double the chance of pulling Black and Arcane Foil variants of the card.

Alchemy Packs

Alchemy Pack will be worth 12,000 DEC or 12$ of Credits and will have the same card rarity and Gold Foil distribution as standard packs with the exception that they contain 1 guaranteed Gold Foil Card. However, if a Black Foil was pulled in the pack, it will replace the guaranteed gold foil. Just like the Standard pack, Alchemy pack can use Alchemy, Legendary and Midnight potion to double the chance to get better rarity of cards.

Legendary Packs

Legendary pack on the other hand will be the most expensive among the card packs with the price of 24,000 DEC or 24$ of Credits. It has the same card rarity and Gold Foil distribution as standard packs but will have a guaranteed Legendary card. Even when a Black Foil card was pulled, the guaranteed card will remains the same. Just like the Standard pack, Alchemy pack can use Alchemy, Legendary and Midnight potion to double the chance to get better rarity of cards.

Comparing Card Odds

To better understand how each pack type differ from one another and which pack hold the best value, I did try to compare each of them and surprisingly, it seems like may have the best odds of pulling more valuable cards given that it has one guaranteed gold foil card and it also have fewer pack requirement for Black foil cards with the odds of getting 1 Black Foil in 80 packs without potion while Legendary pack needs 160 packs. So for those people that will want to chase for Black Foil Cards, Alchemy packs may be your best option.

Pack Cost to Complete Conclave Arcana on Each League

I did try to run some numbers to know how many packs will be needed for each league even though there were no longer league caps assuming that they only purchased the standard pack which cost 4,000 DEC or credits to make it as easy to understand. This is so that players can prepare enough DEC for their purchase. This does not include the 2 promo cards that comes with the presale and the 9 airdrop cards from conflicts. Please take note that this does not include the cost of the potions.

My Presale Plans

For the upcoming presale, I am planning to get at least 50 packs which will cost 200,000 DEC and I have enough DEC to cover the card cost. This will be short by 61 packs to have a max dec for Bronze but to cover for that, I may try to go for the Starter packs for my commons and rares while for the epic, I will try to look for them in the market. I may also try to go for more Starter packs to upgrade my commons in rares to a higher league given.
