Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Noxious Fumes with only ranged monsters

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Noxious Fumes rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Going the Distance and Noxious Fumes. This means that only ranged monsters can be used and all monsters start poisoned. There is also 33 mana available and I am left with the choice of any splinter except for fire.

The summoner I chose to use this time is Quix the Devious. It reduces my enemy's speed and ranged attack by 1. I can also use dragon cards and my cards can be used up to the previous silver cap.

I plan to use Zyvax Vuul as my first tank for the flying and close range. My 2nd monster is Angelic Mandarin for the triage ability. Supply Runner increases my speed through swiftness. Swamp Spitter can repair armor but I kind of messed up looking back. I thought I was using Keyla so I would have armor on all my monsters but I wasn't. My last monster is Merdhampir with life leech to hopefully outlast my opponent.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that I am at a disadvantage against my opponent. My opponent's summoner gives him extra armor so it will be harder for me to kill off my opponent's monsters. Also, the fast gladiator in the back worries me because bloodlust can add up quite fast. I will just hope that my tank can dodge enough attacks for me to kill off some monsters and outlast my opponent.

Round 3

My tank died and I only took out 2 monsters. My side isn't doing well as I also lost 2 monsters, but there is no way I can win this match anymore. I won't be able to outlast my opponent given the bloodlust monster and the flying monster with so much health left.

A few rounds later I lost because of the poison.

Conclusion

The battle did not go as I expected. My opponent had the stronger lineup as he combined tank heal, armor from his summoner, bloodlust, and martyr to ensure that his lineup would survive and deal damage. My strategy was to outlast using life leech and I messed up by putting in a repair monster when I didn't really have any armor either. Either way, there were things that I could have done better and all I can do is learn from this battle.
