Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Venari Seedsmith and the Scavenger ability works well as a backup tank
Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. For this week, I chose a great battle where I took advantage of void armor and repair.
Featured cards
Venari Seedsmith is an earth splinter that costs 5 mana. It has the ability scavenger at the very first level. It learns poison at level 5. I do have this monster at level 8 because I bought some cards when this reward card was near the DEC burn rate, but I am limited by my summoners.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Close Range and Fog of War. This means that ranged monsters gain the close range ability. All monsters also lose the snipe, opportunity, and sneak abilities. There are 47 mana available and I am left with the choice of earth, life, or death splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Immortalis | 6 | Summoner | -1 Health, Void and Shatter |
Mycelic Infantry | 8 | 1st | Shield |
Regal Peryton | 5 | 2nd | Flying |
Queen Mycelia | 4 | 3rd | Protect |
Runemancer Florre | 13 | 4th | Magic and Ranged damage |
Venari Seedsmith | 5 | 5th | Scavenger |
Supply Runner | 6 | 6th | Swiftness |
Total Mana: | 47 |
I used Immortalis my summoner for -1 health, void and shatter. My first monster is Mycelic Infantry because it has the shield to reduce damage. Then I have Regal Peryton for its fast speed so it can shatter armor first. Queen Mycelia has protect and this will help my monsters survive longer. Runemancer Florre has both magic and ranged damage so it works well as a damage dealer. Venari Seedsmith is my backup tank towards the end as it should have more health after monsters die. Supply Runner has swiftness to increase the speed of my monsters.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this will be a tough match. My opponent has two swiftness monsters and the ranged damage that my opponent has is quite tough. I still think that I can win if I don't miss too many attacks.
Round 3
I fast-forwarded to round 3 because me and my opponent were just trading damage. Both of us lost 2 monsters and I am kind of glad that I went with so many ranged monsters. I did miss quite a few attacks though.
Round 4
Both me and my opponent lost another monster. We are just trading monsters but I think that I have the advantage because the swiftness monsters on my opponent's side are gone. If I can land enough attacks, then this fight should be my win due to Seedsmith having so much health. My opponent's monsters don't have as much health.
I ended up managing to land enough attacks and get the win over my opponent. Due to trading monsters with my opponent, Seedsmith got 9 extra health so I was able to outlast my opponent.
Conclusion
The battle this time around did go as I expected but I was a bit worried at the start. Both me and my opponent were trading monsters but I was able to win because of my backup tanks in the backline. Seedsmith worked out well with that scavenger ability due to the health gained and I like that ranged monsters were able to attack from any spot due to the ruleset.
You can see my entire match here.

Your strategy with Venari Seedsmith really paid off. Using ranged monsters strategically and leveraging Seedsmith's scavenger ability for extra health was pretty smart bruv. !HUG
I sent 1.0 HUG on behalf of @theringmaster.

Yea. I think it was a good idea to use Seedsmith and having more tanks isn't a bad idea.
Definitely not a bad idea
The opponent should have put the USUT and those other magic cards before the range cards ahead, the USUT could have attained bloodlust and it'll be a more feistier encounter, but it was a well thought out win. Your range cards were too good.
Moving Usut would have made the match closer because the opponent lost his speed advantage within the first few turns. I was using Immortalis as the summoner so it wouldn't have much chance to land the killing blow. I am just glad that I set up my ranged monsters correctly.
Positioning is always crucial in splinterlands, this really proves it..
You had good cards
I’m glad you won
Keep winning!
