Land 1.75 in Action

It's been a little over a week since Land 1.75 was released. I see all kind of reactions to it. I see people liking or loving what they see and the direction the game within the game has taken, expectedly, I also see people who don't like the new changes because they are now unbalanced with their plots and have trouble balancing them. And another category thinking other game modes are more worth it.

To those who are unhappy that their plots are unbalanced and they don't have enough resources to be self-sufficient, I can only say one thing: that IS the point of this land game. Very few, if any, will eventually, when everything unfolds, be self-sustainable. After all, Splinterlands, at its core, is a TCG, and T comes from "tradable", which means those that trade (buy and sell) may have an advantage over those that don't, unless they have everything, which is quite rare.

In the case of Splinterlands Land, resources produced by land are currently tradable (except research points), but more things will be later on.

To only mention from the recent teases regarding land, we may have a new potion crafted on land (the one to revive cards for survival mode), research points may give a bonus to receiving the rarest foil in Conclave Arcana (Black Foil = cards fully maxed out).

In fact, in the recent Town Hall Matt said that after Land 1.75 was out and any immediate changes are made (bugs, improved functionality, etc.), the focus would be to integrating the current version of land to the rest of the game modes, before developing land further. So, to give it a lot more value through synergies rather than developing it separately!

Depending what kind of plots some people have in majority, they may not like what kind of resources they produce. Those things tend to get fixed/balanced in time or by applying better strategies. Remember that at the beginning of the Land game Canyons and I think Tundras were considered the worse plots to own and everyone was dumping them? I haven't sold any of my plots from my tract, and now at least Canyon produces Stone, which is a pretty good resource to have right now (not as good as Iron).

Personally, I focus a lot on land. More than on... Survival mode, for example, because I don't have the cards to compete there without hurting my Ranked play (but that doesn't mean I won't try to improve my strategy there in the future).

But given my personal situation, other than summoners (with the exception of the very high PP ones that I don't use in Ranked), if I have the choice to make for a card whether to use it on Land or in Survival, I will use it on Land.

Survival may give a dopamine hit of nice gains won quickly if you are able to rank up, but Land will likely be more profitable long term, at least for me. And I least I hope so.

Speaking of my land, I made some tweaks recently.

First of all, I have 3 plots producing research now on magic terrains, and I am mining SPS on all 3 occupied plots. I already regret switching one of the plots back to SPS, because it was producing Iron, and I will turn it back to Iron, but I am waiting to the weekly harvest to do it, even if the prices may adjust until then.

I am now in the red on the hourly production with all resources except stone. I have enough Stone produced to cover my hourly expenses of every other resource and still have an hourly surplus of over 200 Stone, at the time of writing and these prices:

I could turn more plots to Research, but for the time being, I think that's enough and be happy with the extra resources. As I said, I will reverse that SPS mining operation to Ore mining too on Monday... I had doubts when I pushed the button to switch it to SPS, and looks like I was right...

In the meantime, the Stone in the pool is collecting rewards...

4325 Stone and 1715 DEC earned in a little over a week may not seem like a lot, but when you have in the pool 31587 Stone and 7287 DEC (added progressively), it is.

Finally, over the night my GF Kelan Gains got sold, after the 4x 1 BCX RF copies got sold almost immediately too. I used part of the received DEC to pay back the SWAP.HIVE, and the rest I locked on my land, so I can add another 2x 10,000 energy requirement cards to an Iron producing plot (common plot, unfortunately), namely Venari Heatsmith(s) which aren't really useful on any of the other game modes.

Your plan came together nicely. You've been able to lock in more resources for Land. Let's see how that Iron plot works out

That produces quite a bit of Iron, despite being a Common plot, because I have pretty high-PP cards on it from when I was mining SPS (and where the 100% bonus from being an occupied plot mattered).

I'd love if we could move our cards from land from one slot to another from another plot without a 3-day cooldown. That would make it easier to optimize our land plots.

Isn't there a feedback system to send it to developer because that definitely could make it easier for land optimization

It may have been a reason not to do this in the past. Not sure if they still apply. I might contact them to see what's the situation now.

Yea it's the point of lands promote the trade, the efforts and such, to be self sustainable you must have invested a lot and have all the resources... As always if people don't like they can sell

From what I know it is quite difficult even for players holding full regions to become self-sustainable. And if they can do it now, they won't be able to do it later in the game without specializing to some degree.

You are having a good return for your investment

Probably the returns only now start to show their initial power.

Only have 7 plots and more by luck than judgement was self sufficient, still lots of work to do to get to max production too but it’s a marathon not a sprint as far as I am concerned !BBH

It is a marathon, but at every stage there are benefits for doing some things at the right time.

Is it profitable to mine SPS now? Only a few days ago you could get more just trading the stone etc. for DEC.

I made a calculation now, and the balance is still leaning toward stone (as a way to buy SPS) compared to SPS mining, but not very much. It is still about 3-4x more SPS mined than before 1.75. But I'll switch back one of the plots to Iron mining.

I agree that people need to adapt to the changes. Nothing stays the same forever. What is the use of the other resources? I am guessing that it will be added in the future updates.

They already have use cases. They are all needed to mine SPS and Research.

Land 1.75 was a nerf for me. These changes are necessary for a better and more sustainable future. This is what we need to get DEC back to peg and SPS into mainstream.

rarest foil in Conclave Arcana (Black Foil = cards fully maxed out).

I missed out on this part. Thank you for the information.

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure things will get balanced. Either you will do it or, if there's a problem with the distribution of rewards, they will do it in future updates.

I missed out on this part. Thank you for the information.

It wasn't in the Town Hall. Blaze was a guest at CBRS' podcast and that's where he dropped a few alpha. The post with the news will likely come out next week.

I did find that from your Week Through Adrian's Lenses. The only worry I have about Conclave Arcana right now is many people being poor in both fiat and cryptocurrency. We could be heading for a recession like scenario and it will be a first for cryptocurrency markets to be in one. I'm not saying this as a certainty. I want to keep this in mind just in case. A bull market extending to 2026 is another one of those scenarios I keep in the back of my head.

Yes, things don't look great from the economic standpoint and that might affect the end of the bull market.

I don't know what to say about Conclave Arcana. The set itself is enticing, I've heard a couple of major whales getting exciting and ready for it, but you are right, not many are doing well these days. I also heard "predictions" that the presale will be sold out in less than a day, that's how confident some are or how high the hype is... The fact is we don't even know the details yet.

Presale being sold out fast is easy to expect. That is when the existing Whales go all in on Conclave Arcana. The real question is how long the momentum would last.

Rebellion didn't sold out easy in the presale. But it's a different situation now.
