Splinterlands - Are Soulbound Chaos Cards Useless?
There are limits on when a Chaos Soulbound card can be used in the Splinterlands game. Since I only have a limited amount of time to play Splinterlands, I have been playing Frontier and Modern formats and also matches with my Guild.
Due to this to me, the Chaos Soulbound cards are basically never used. I am a member of a low level guild so can only use level 1 Chaos soulbound cards when I select a Fray that includes the Chaos collection.
Current Owned Chaos Soulbound Cards
I made a point of trying to get as many Chaos reward cards as possible and leveling them up as high as possible. Because of this, I have both regular and gold foils of the same cards which makes the regular foil useless if I already have a gold card leveled up to the regular foils level. Gold cards provide an extra 10% rewards so I would be foolish to use a regular foil when a gold foil is available.
Example: Common FireCaller Chaos Soulbound card
I have this common Chaos Soulbound range card from the Fire element - Firecaller. I used this card as a go to card when possible because of the 3 ranged attack and 3 speed with 4 health.
As you can see, both foils (regular and gold) are level 7 and since only one of these two cards can be used in a match the other card is useless. Basically I would never use the regular foil card since I have the gold foil at the same level. And on top of that I have additional copies of both the regular and gold foil cards that can not used used as well.
Options
- Soulbound cards could be Unbind (to late)
- Burn for Glint
I guess I have waited way to long to do anything with these cards if I am not going to play with them as the time for Unbinding them is past.
If I would have unbound these cards, I would have had an additional option of selling them on the card market. The lowest listing is for a level 6 card for the amount of $4.50 which is $0.041 per CC.
However since these Chaos Soulbound cards can mainly only be used in the Wild Format, I do not know how strong the market is. Or if any sells are happening and if there are how long you would have to wait after listing before anyone actually bought your unbound soulbound Chaos cards.
Burn for Glint
Another option would be to burn these useless soulbound Chaos cards for Glint which the Glint could then be used to purchase draws for the current edition soulbound cards which could be played in the Modern format.
My Firecaller common level 7 soulbound Chaos card can be converted into 3,750 Glint. I would never miss the card since I have a Gold foil version at the same level.
Gwen's Glint Shop
Heading over to Gwen's Glint shop, I will need to see what I could get for the 3,750 Glint or if I would need to select several other soulbound Chaos cards to burn (convert to Glint).
I have not been using my Glint so have a nice balance to use to purchase draws but just to stay on focus, the 3,750 Glint received from burning that one level 7 soulbound Chaos card would be enough to choose between two of the Rarity draws (Common 150 Glint and Rare 750 Glint) which I could get multiple of the draws from each or a Gold Foil Common draw for 3,500 Glint.
I would probably lean toward getting a chance for a Gold Foil common card than the regular Rarity draws.

My brother loves playing games and I could feel tension whenever he is playing a crucial level.
It's funny, I'm just barely getting into playing Splinterlands now a bit with the new free-to-play format. Learning all the cards, their traits and abilities, and how to use them effectively together, is quite a time-consuming task, which is why I mostly haven't gotten into it up until now. I'm getting the hang of it, though. Burning your unneeded soulbound cards for GLINT seems like the best option, and I wish you immense success with your gains from it! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

This is an interesting game to play. It is a good call to sell the cards you don't need as such at glints so as to apply the profits elsewhere. Goodluck.
