My SPS Validator Node is Live
Welcome to my announcement post. This is a great time for Splinterlands as finally, the long-awaited sps network is live and running in the game. We are a step closer to decentralization. Once again, Splinterlands is on the leading edge of blockchain games. Stay tuned and I will detail a few things about my SPS-Validator server! 🎉
This is a big deal.
Before I get into the technical spec, here is a bit about me. I am from Adelaide Australia, part of the local group we have here attending the monthly meet-ups. Meetups are run by our sps foundation chairman @mattclarke. We are a solid group of blokes and galls and have known each other for many years. In a world where trust is becoming a very scarce commodity. We meet in person and know each other. This goes a long way to building trust, more so in the crypto space.
I hold a good collection of cards in the game, going all the way back to the beta set. This was when I first got involved in playing the game. Starting my collection and also my hive involvement. Putting my money where my mouth is. I have invested a significant amount into both HIVE and Splinterlands. I hold over 100k hive and 800k SPS
I have been a member of the Drop Bears Guild. And enjoy playing the brawls, the guild has a very active discord channel and is very organized. Hopefully we get some much need upgrades to the guild system. I know the team has a lot planned and guilds keeps getting pushed down the list.
I have been a hive witness for well over a year now, with a focus on running and hosting my hardware here in Adelaide. This is very important. Becouse I cannot be shut down by an external provider. I am sure that you remember what happened with privex-hosted witness nodes. Recently, where they had to shut down servers to follow law enforcement.
I am safe from this.
In the same fashion, my sps validator runs in the same way. On my hardware and hosted in a secure bunker here in Adelaide. I was very keen to get involved with the SPS validator project from the very beginning. When a call went out from @clayboyn for players to get involved in the pre-prod testing I signed up straight away. The testing team was small but we all shared our work and testing with the main developer. Sometimes this resulted in new builds and deployment happening every day.
Server spec - More than enough to run a full Node with an API
- Intel i5 CPU
- 16GB Ram
- 200GB SSD Storage
To have an API available this is a bit more work. You need a domain name. Configuring a reverse proxy, and set up security and monitoring. This is fine for me, as my day job is Systems Administrator and Software Developers. So I am well versed in setting up these kinds of systems.
