New Splinterlands Packs - Conclave Arcana - Decisions Decisions

Conclave Arcana Release Image.png

There is a new set coming out soon to Splinterlands.

The new set is called "Conclave Arcana"!

If you are a seasoned player, bare with me because I am not. So my posts are geared towards newer players or maybe players not fully dialed into the ecosystem yet. I look out for my people! haha.

That is the 'official' logo for the set. I do not know what the little icon logo will look like but we will find out soon enough!

Conclave Arcana Proposals

There are 2 Articles that I think anyone who plays Splinterlands should read. They both coincide with Proposals that were both passed with roughly 90% support in each.

I am going to give my thoughts and strategy when it comes to the various packs outlined in these articles so you don't have to read them as I will give a brief overview but they have good info in them regardless.

Lets Refresh on all previous Packs

That is where we have come from. Unfortunately I was not here active during the Rebellion Pack Sales. But I do remember buying plenty of Chaos Legion packs back in the day! Those were good times, ripping packs and praying for Legendaries or Gold Foils.

1 thing I do not have the information on is how many cards will be in the Conclave Arcana Core set and how that compares to the previous sets. I do know that Chaos Legion Core set was overprinted to the 10th degree, which is why those cards are also so cheap right now compared to Rebellion cards. So only time will tell what the value of the new set will be post pack opening!

All the Conclave Arcana Packs

There are going to be 4 different packs for the Conclave Arcana set. And this is huge news that I am excited for. Here are the various packs and all their details!

Standard Booster Pack

(I am not 100% sure which pack art goes with which pack but I made educated guesses)

The Standard Booster Pack is what you have come to expect from a Splinterlands Pack.

  • It will include 5 cards from the Core Conclave Arcana set.

  • They will cost 4,000 DEC or 4,000 Credits per pack.

  • It will have the same chances at pulling different rarities or Gold Foil cards as previous sets.

Starter Booster Pack (new)

  • These packs will feature only Common and Rare cards (hence the reduced price per card).

  • There are no Gold Foil cards in the Starter Pack.

  • Each card would have a 80% chance to be common and a 20% chance to be Rare.

  • Potions would not be able to be used on these packs.

Due to Proposal #200 the price of the packs and # of cards changed.

Original Cost:
  • It was going to cost 25,000 DEC/Credits for 25 cards.
New Cost:
  • It will now cost 1,000 DEC/Credits for 5 cards.
  • Also since the # of cards is reduced the rarity rates changed. Now you will get 4 Common Card and 1 guaranteed Rare card per pack.

Also any new players who buy a Spellbook after this set is released will get 5 Starter Packs (in addition to the credits new users get).

  • Starter Packs are NTT, which means you can not sell them on secondary or transfer them to another account. Once you buy them only you can open them up. The cards you get from the packs will be normal NFT's that can be bought and sold though.

Legendary Booster Pack (new)

Now this is where things start to get interesting...

  • They will cost 24,000 DEC/Credits per pack.
  • 5 cards per pack
  • 1 card guaranteed to be a Legendary Card.
  • Potions can be used to increase Legendary and Gold Foil chances on the remaining 4 (non guaranteed Legendary cards)
  • These packs are NFT's and as such can be sold on secondary.

Alchemmist Booster Pack (new)

  • They will cost 12,000 DEC/Credits per pack.
  • 5 cards per pack.
  • 1 card guaranteed to be a Gold Foil card.
  • Alchemy Potions can be used to increase the odds of the other 4 cards being Gold Foil as well.
  • Legendary Potions can be used to increase the odds of all 5 cards being Legendary Rarity.
  • These packs are NFT's and as such can be sold on secondary.

Booster Pack Status - Total Counts

The total amount of Packs are as follows:

  • 5 million Standard Booster Packs (25 million cards)
  • 1 million Alchemist Booster Packs (5 million cards)
  • 500,000 Legendary Booster Packs (2.5 million cards)
  • unlimited Starter Booster Packs (??? cards)

That is at least 32.5 million Conclave Arcana cards to be minted but honestly it will be way higher due to the Starter Booster Packs not being counted in that list.

What is the Pre-Sale?

Pre-Sale is a 'event' that will take place 1 month before release of Conclave Arcana set dropping. 10% of each type of pack (Standard, Legendary and Alchemist) will be set aside for the presale.

But why a Pre-Sale to begin with? The packs will NOT be cheaper during the Pre-Sale but if you purchase packs during the presale you get extra bonuses.

It will be easier to just quote the Splinterlands post here:

The benefit of purchasing packs before the set is released is that for each dollar spent during the presale phase players will have a chance to receive two limited-edition promotional cards that will be airdropped when the set is released. Additionally, there will be various leaderboard rewards for the players who purchase the most packs by dollar value during the presale. Leaderboard prizes are expected to include Titles, limited-edition promo cards, and design rights for six Legendary Summoner cards to be added to the Conclave Arcana set.

That means during the Pre-Sale there will be:
500,000 Standard Booster Packs for sale ($4 each is $2,000,000 total)
100,000 Alchemist Booster Packs for sale ($12 each is $1,200,000 total)
50,000 Legendary Booster Packs for sale ($24 each is $1,200,000 total)

That is $4.2 Million of packs for sale just in the Pre-Sale alone.

Conclave Set Release and General Sale

Roughly end of April the Set will be released. That also means anyone who purchased packs in the Pre-Sale will now be able to open their packs and see what they got!

But it also means that the remaining packs will be up for sale.

4,500,000 Standard Booster Packs ($4 each is $18,000,000 total)
900,000 Alchemist Booster Packs ($12 each is $10,800,000 total)
450,000 Legendary Booster Packs ($12 each is $10,800,000 total)

That is a total cost of $39,600,000. Not even including the Starter Packs for $1.

Also something to note. Each day there is a barrier of sorts of how many packs should be sold.

  • 15,000 Standard Booster Packs
  • 3,000 Alchemist Booster Packs
  • 1,500 Legendary Booster Packs
If that amount of packs are not sold during the General sale on ANY day then the remaining of those packs are distributed. 10% will go to the sps.dao account and the other 90% will be burned.

So for example if on Day 10 only 10,000 Standard packs are sold and 5,000 Alchemist and 5,000 Legendary packs are sold then that means there was 5,000 Standard Booster packs not sold that day. So 10% or 500 packs will be sent to the sps.dao and the remaining 4,500 packs will be burned!

That does not mean only 15,000 Standard Booster Packs are available each day. All packs will be available to purchase Day 1. This is just a measure put in place to make sure that ALL packs are at least bought within the first 300 days.

Starter Booster Packs are not included and will still be available for purchase even after all the other packs are sold out, up until a new set is released.

What packs will I be buying?

With ALL of that information now we move onto my strategy and my thoughts.

  1. I love that there are multiple variations of packs for this new set. It brings something new to the game but isn't overly complex.
  2. Legendary and Alchemist packs are too high of a price for my blood.
  3. I will be focusing on buying up Standard Booster Packs.

I have been struggling to scrounge together DEC as it is. But I am starting to stockpile it. I only have about 7,000 DEC so far so that means 2 Standard Booster Packs during the Pre-Sale.

But I am working out ways to get more liquid crypto over to buy credits to then purchase packs. But I think even getting 10 Standard Booster Packs during the Pre-Sale is going to be tough honestly.

That being said though I am starting to think bigger picture here. I am going to start saving up my Glint to purchase Legendary and Alchmeist Potions with it so that when I can open packs I will have enough potions for all of them. There is no point is opening a pack without potions nowadays.

So that's my plan. What is yours? How many Legendary Booster Packs are you buying Day 1 you whale? 😉

For new players it's actually a better way to just buy the cards you need from the secondary market, while buying packs and opening them is FUN, you won't get what you NEED.
IMO buying packs only makes sense if you're going to buy at least 100.

Great post man!

I HAVE to buy like 10 packs or so in the beginning just because its a new set and its fun and you gotta roll the dice at least a little to test your luck.

But after that yeah I think I have to switch to buying singles for sure

Thanks for alle the information about the new set!

I think I‘ll do it similiar to the Rebellion set. I just buy some packs in the presale, and after that the cards I want on the market.

Yeah the more and more I think about it I think 10 Standard packs during presale and then the rest on secondary as singles
