Felt weird so I decided to make this: I call it "Chernobyl"
Extremely weird and comfortable huh? Yup! That's exactly what I was going for. Chernobyl ain't no laughing matter bud.
Inspired by the horrendous events of April. 26. 1986, Chernobyl is a digital artwork that gives a little tribute to that disastrous day.
If you're unfamiliar with the Chernobyl Disaster of 1986, then you might want to read what follows next: On a very faithful afternoon, on April. 26. 1986, it was noted that the No.4 reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power plant in the north of Ukraine in the Soviet Union, exploded in a large ball of flames! Seemingly, evacuations began immediately from the surrounding areas of the cities nearby and over 30,000 people were recorded to have evacuated.
Now unfortunately, this disaster led to the release of highly radioactive gases into the atmosphere which, sadly, affected many organisms around and outside the area of Ukraine. Consequentially, plants, animals and even human beings were affected by these radioactive gases causing them to mutate in most often, bizarre ways.
Now this is where the story gets a little more interesting..
Alas, as it is often with our modern generation, conspiracy theories and just plain far fetched rumors have been spread over the years concerning the 1986 disaster. Some of them which include: the gases mutating humans into superheroes, the gases mutating insects into giant alien like bugs, and sightings of mysterious inhuman Chernobyl victims, still living near the nuclear plant like freaks.
Ha! With the likes of Hollywood and other film adaptations(HBO series: Chernobyl to say the least)depicting the event in such an overemphasized and horrific way, it's no surprise that some people actually believe these rumors. However, the truth remains that yes! The Chernobyl Disaster did affect humans and other living organisms in a weird way - very weird. But not in a way that could be termed as a superpower lol.
If you'd like to learn about more about the effects of the Chernobyl Disaster, you can as well watch this video:
So yeah! There you have it! Now you have a little idea about the inspiration behind my bizzare creation. My plan though, is to list the digital portrait as an NFT on the NFT showroom and possibly on Opensea as well. I'll be sure to make a follow up post about when it's available for purchase as soon as I get my account approved for whitelisting on the showroom.
