When the Moon Bleeds Red: Rage and Bloodlust in the Blood Moon Ruleset

$1

This month’s Blood Moon event brings an exciting and entertaining Halloween atmosphere to the game, making each fight feel more captivating and uncertain. I will provide insights on my personal combat experiences and tactics utilizing this distinctive ruleset. Each unit begins the match fueled by Bloodlust, and every win on the battlefield enhances their power, making them increasingly formidable opponents. It’s a setup that rewards smart planning and aggressive plays, giving players the freedom to experiment with confident team compositions or combinations that can easily win into unstoppable power once the match gains momentum. Maybe there's also a December Christmas event, and let's see how it goes interesting match and rewards😁.

A few chosen units and Archons are getting special new skins that you can grab using Glints, bringing a fresh and creative way to customize your deck. These skins are made just for Modern format cards, giving players a chance to show off their style (flex the cards) during matches. It’s a simple but exciting addition that lets you make your lineup look unique and stand out in every battle.

Let's dive straight into the battle (Modern Format), where I utilize the Blood Moon rule set and choose the right units and archons combo.

In this match, the rulesets were Even Stevens, Thick Skinned, and Blood Moon, with a 38 mana cap. The active elements were Water, Death, and Dragon. Since I plan on using Akane and the Dragon element is accessible, I decided to focus my strategy on magic. I used Rage, one of the Dragon roster's strongest magic attackers (my preferred unit because of its manageable mana limit). Rage's five magic damage is a serious threat since it can quickly eliminate low-health enemies and activate Bloodlust for a stronger advantage. To take advantage of Ujurak Brave's Silence and lessen the difference in the enemy's magic stats, I chose Akane Archon as my Archon because of its Ambush ability, which I paired with the Dragon and Death elements.

I started my lineup with Ujurak Brave as the main tank to absorb damage and weaken enemy magic (the melee and magic debuffer of my team). Next was Dark Arborist, serving as a secondary tank that also reduces physical damage with Demoralize and can be a support. In the third position, I placed Rage as my primary or main magic damage dealer, while Runeseer Sevaya backed it up in the fourth spot. Since Sevaya doesn’t attack, Weapons Training allowed it to copy Rage’s magic attack, adding more firepower. I finished my formation with Bristleborn Brigand in the back to act as a distraction and protect my supports.

My opponent chose Zeddica Archon and a lineup that included Dark Arborist, Abyssal Elemental, Silverleaf Warlock, Shadowfey Sheik, Anasth Soothsayer, and Shock Trooper. The opponent approach was focused on magic damage, aligning with the Thick Skinned rule as both melee and ranged attacks are less impactful. Thanks to Anasth Soothsayer’s healing, the adversary's frontline displayed strong resilience. Nonetheless, my strategy focused on overwhelming their team with enhanced magic damage and synergy, depending on Rage’s burst capacity and the accumulation of Bloodlust. The question now is whether my lineup's sheer magical power can endure longer than the opponent's sustainability and control. Let’s observe how the conflict progresses.

As the battle progressed to round 4, the momentum started to change when my rival’s Shadowfey Sheik successfully activated Bloodlust, receiving an immediate increase in stats. My Rage, nonetheless, was unable to trigger its Bloodlust earlier than I anticipated. Runeseer Sevaya seized command of the battle. It delivered decisive blows that eliminated foes and enhanced its own abilities. With the boost from the Bloodlust ability, Runeseer Sevaya's magic attack increased to 5. It delivered reliable, high magic damage throughout the battle, making it my team's surprising carry in the second core damage.

As the match moved into round five, both my Rage and Runeseer Sevaya worked perfectly together. They overwhelmed the opposing team, Shadowfey Sheik, even with the constant healing from Anasth Soothsayer every round. The opponent's defenses ultimately collapsed due to the high barrage of magic strikes, allowing me to gain the victory easily. It transformed what appeared to be an ordinary configuration line-up into a unique showdown where timing, positioning, and a dash of fortune determined which unit would rise as the surprising victor in the rules set given Blood Moon.
