The card we will be discussing today is Venari Wavesmith

We would rate this card based on:

• Cost to buy/rent this card. How affordable and accessible is the card.
• Card Stats. How balanced the card is based on its role.
• Card Effect. How useful is its effect based on the role of the card.
• Strengths and Weaknesses. If the card can counter other cards and/or be countered easily by others or not.
• Positioning. Adaptability of where the card can be placed.

  Rental/Buy Cost ||
  

  
  Venari Wavesmith is really cheap may it be rental or purchase. I do suggest to rent it instead of purchasing due to its affordability. I think it's more efficient to buy gold cards rather than non-foils because gold cards are the most prone to being cancelled in the rentals specially during end of season.

Card Stats ||

* Mana: 5
* Damage: 1 Magic
* Speed: 2
* Health: 3
For a 5 mana, the health is on the low side but the ability is great. Also, this is a mage card so it complements the +1 magic damage from Alric. ════════════════════════════════

Card Effect ||

• Level 1-4 || Protect || All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor
  Protect is very useful specially in low league levels. The +2 armor protects all your creatures from snipers and sneaks. This is especially useful because most of the mages have low health.
• Level 5-8 || Dispel || When this monster hit an enemy, it clears all positive status effects on that enemy
  Dispel is useful on higher league. It cancels all positive effects on opponent it hits. It's specially powerful on cancelling stacked buffs like double inspiration or double armor, etc.

Strengths Weaknesses ||

|| Venari Wavesmith's strengths lies in two folds, the fact that he is a magic user and his abilities. Magic damage bypass armor and most importantly, it does not miss. The no-miss feature is important because a lot of the low mana mages have low speed. Low speed means it's prone to miss but this does not apply to mages. Protect is also important to boost low health monsters. This becomes less important as you get more options to use stronger mages like Captain's Ghost or Oshannus as they both can act as tank due to their health.

|| Although I like mages and I say a lot of benefits, I do say that being a mage is also its weakness. Mages, if you don't put investment, is easy to counter due to a HUGE access to anti-mage abilities like Void or Silence. A few example is when water is open and I see that the player is spamming mages, I just go Bortus for -1 magic damage, then add two tanks, and this is enough to stop them. If I'm feeling generous, rent Torhilo the Frozen for like 5 DEC per day, combo that with Bortus and it completely shuts down most mages build. Torhilo have Void ability which cuts all magic damage in half and if the damage is 1 (most low leveled mages), it becomes 0. Bortus counters Alric's +1 magic damage so you can actually win with Torhilo not taking ANY damage. ════════════════════════════════

Positioning ||

• The best position for this card is in the middle. I normally put him in the third position behind two tanks. If the tanks died, my build mostly dies as well so putting him at the very last doesn't make any difference. Also, putting Venari at the very last is prone to him being target for sneaks.

Compatibility ||

• Venari Wavesmith is most compatible with water mages. You use Alric to boost all of their damages by 1 and Venari protects them. This is essential because if you don't add Venari, your build most likely lose to snipers which should be a winnable game. Snipers have better speed and thus, they attack first. Snipers kill your mages before they attack if you don't have Venari Wavesmith in your battle. Venari Wavesmith is essential if you're going with a water mage build.

Final Thoughts

With all the evidences that we gathered, we could say that Venari Wavesmith is very essential to all water decks. It's a great addition to satisfy all your magical needs.

All in all, I would give it...

I think I've done all the necessary info throughout this blog and I would just be repeating everything here. I don't want to do that. So, for all of you who stuck with me through the end, here's a major pro tip (Not a pro, just sounds cool. wink wink).

At 12 mana battles, if fire is unavailable, go with this build: Alric Summoner, Kelp in front, Venari Wavesmith 2nd, Ice Pixie at last. Mana count would be 3 for Alric, 2 for Kelp, 5 for Venari, 2 for Pixie for total of 12. Add Ooze if 13 mana. Important note, Only do this if fire is not available. This wins against ANY builds for 12 or 13 mana as long as it's a normal rule set or vs low level fire.
