Gotta Catch Them All! ~Pleasing my big boy at The Collectibles
Greeting Hivers! It's me Iris from East Java, Indonesia. Today I will bring you the the sacred world of the Card Collectors. If you are familiar with popular culture, there is a special community that dedicated their time, resources, and soul to collect game card. These people are very devoted in collecting and playing collectible card games (CCGs), also known as trading card games (TCGs).
The activity includes trading, building decks, and participating in events and online forums of CGSs or TCGs. There are several populars Card Games that you might hear before such as Yu Gi Oh!, Pokemon, Digimon, Magic: The Gathering and so many more. It is more than buying a bunch of cards to build your ultimate deck, but the best part is hunting rare cards and trading within the community to complete the collection - according my husband who is an TGCs enthusiast.
So last week when we were on holiday, we visited a shop called "The Collectibles" which is a TGCs haven and hobby shop. Right at the moment we entered the store, I swear I could see his eyes shimmering with joy lol. My husband casually collected the Pokemon card, which he usually buy at the convenience store. Here a pocket of Pokemon Card cost aroun $1.5 USD and you will get 10 random card, but if you are lucky one of them is a rare card - which usually printed in hologram. Sometimes the company will issue special collections cards in particular design which of course would value more.
Being maried to a popular culture enthusiasts made me familiar with games, cards, anime, and manga but the vast collection offered in this store still amaze me. There are a lot of TGCs that I never seen before, some are from famous anime such as Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online which I never know have their own card game. The price is also very intriguing, ranging from cents to thousands USD. I found a set of Pokemon card that consist of the evolution of starter OG Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle offered as around $1.780 USD for total of 9 cards. Really there is no limit on the value of collectors item.
Besides awesome TGCs, this store also sell other collectables item such as Pokemon plushie, assembly robots, keychain, pop marts items, blind boxes, action figures, and so many more. Luckily we were not really defoted fans or die hard collectors, for sure that we would have a shopping frenzy mode here because they did sell high quality items and also got some really rare items that will make collectors droll.
However, it was not that we went home with nothing. I just couldn't help to buy the big Bulbasaur plushie (ehm, let's just say it was for my son lol) and my hubby also got some rare card to add into his collection, because how could we resist all that temptations anyway. My son also exatic when he saw the big plushie and really love riding him lol.
No matter what, it was a happy and lovely date to please our inner child. As an adult, of course we have responsibilities, chores, and other needs but we also deserve a break and a little celebration by indulging in what we love. So, go on and take a breather when life feels so impossible and annoying. It's okay even if it just for 5 minutes because those little happiness in life will make you keep going. Cheers!
