Hello Splinterlands Warlocks, hope the new season is going on smoothly. Here again to participate in the splinterlands social media challenge. In this week’s posts, I will explain what the term “Unbinding” means and the steps I took in unbinding one of my cards- Drybone Hobgoblin as an example. If you’re new to Splinterlands, you have probably come across the term “Bound Card” and wondered what it means or maybe you tried selling a card but could not because it was “bound.” Don’t worry, I was once in the same boat! Its nothing difficult and strange, lets get into it.!!!!

What Does “Binding” Mean in Splinterlands?

A card can be permanently linked to an account. When this happen to be the case, then we say the card is bound. It makes it impossible for that particular card to be listed on the market place for sales, rent, or transferred to another person.
The reason for this was to reward loyal players who keeps their cards in their collections and having these cards (Soulbounds Cards) often increases the reward multiplier and gives more loot chests when battles are being played. Which is very good in the long run but in case a player for one reason or the other decides to sell, rent or transfer these cards, you need to unbind it. And that’s what we intend to take a look at in the next few paragraphs.

Why You Might Want to Unbind a Cards

There are just some few reasons why a player might want to unbind their cards, which gives you the freedom to any of these:

  1. Sell at the market place for DEC or Credits
  2. Rent it on the market place for passive income.
  3. Transfer to another account for usage.

Step-by-Step Giude on how to Unbind a Card

Here is exactly what you need to do to unbind your card.

1. Log into your account by visiting the splinterlands website

2. Tap on Cards or Collection to view all your cards.

3. Find the card you want to unbind, use the search bar to make it easier if you want.

4. Tap the card to open up. You will see a bigger view of the card with its version of the card — with its stats, abilities, and name.

5. At the bottom of the screen, look for the “Unbind Card” button.

6. Click it, a pop-up message will appear. It usually explains the fees to be paid: which is paid in either DEC or Credits.

7. If everything looks good, click Confirm Unbind.

8. Wait a few seconds for the system will process your request.

9. Once done, your card will no longer have the bound tag, and you can now sell, rent, or transfer freely.

You see how simply it is? Takes less than a minute to do. But trust me its ca take you several months also for lack of knowledge. That’s why it good to seek knowledge concerning even the simplest things. That’s it! The whole process takes less than a minute once you know where to find the button.

Quik Reminder!!!

1. You might lose bound-card bonuses after unbinding, so make sure you are okay with that.

2. Keep some DEC or Credits ready to cover up for small fee.

3. Always double-check that the card is unbound before listing it for sale

4. Practice first by unbinding a low-value card to see how it works.

My Experience as a New Player

When I first joined Splinterlands, the knowledge on what binding is was not part of my dictionary. I just saw the option “Unbind”and the curiosity level spiked and decided to test it on my Drybone Hobgoblin, a fire monster and it worked perfectly well.

It feels great knowing you can manage your in-game cards properly and understanding ownership and not just battling. Splinterlands is made for building and managing digital assets strategically and not only strategic in the battle ground.

Unbinding cards may kind of sound strange and a bit complicated at first. But actually, one of the easiest things to do once you know what it is and how to go about it.

For new players like us, learning these small features helps us get the best out of the game!!!
