Hello Splinterlands Warlocks, warriors, battlemages and fellow Hivians!

I hope this season ended on a good note and you enjoyed the battle games from Splinterlands as much as I did. There is another interesting community challenge here once again and I can’t just let it go like that. It is on an interesting topic, "Unsung Heroes". This challenge highlights the monsters that does not always get that special attention yet plays a crucial role in most battles and the strengths brought to the battlegrounds is one of a kind.

Frontier matches are very strategic and the most interesting part is the rewards that comes with it. I have been trying out new battle strategies to get more equipped with battle skills for a while now. And most players rarely give Beluroc Aegis a chance to show off because it seems too modest to stand out. Even me, I did not give this monster the needed attention at first due to lack of knowledge on its true abilities. It seemed wired at first tho. Why would a monster be the main focus of target in a match?

Probably because we have not fully come into the realization of how this monster actually works. I know by the end of this post most of how will see the uniqueness of this monster and how best to use it in battles.

Beluroc Aegis, is a true unsung hero - this monster has just one special ability but this ability is so unique. And makes it so special among all the other monster. This ability makes it act as the sacrificial monster. It lays down its life for the other monster units within the team. Putting his life on the line, making him the major target so the remaining monsters can remain in good shape to fight. It is not easy to put your life on the line for others to survive and that is exactly what this monster does whenever he appears on the scene.

At first, I didn’t understand what this monster’s ability actually was because as soon as the battle begins, every fire is directed towards him. He is the first to be eliminated in most circumstances. But then when I finally got to understand how this monster’s ability works, I began to use it in most of my matches and it worked perfectly well.

Let’s look at how this monster’s ability led to a victory in one of my recent battles, I will add an additional link to another match that this monster worked out so well as well.

My Line-Up

Summoner Thalgrimore

1.Nim Guard Captain; a sturdy frontline warrior designed to absorb the heaviest initial blows.

2. New Beluroc Aegis; my key card for this particular match acting as a midline backing Nim Guard.

3. Sorrow Harvester; another damage dealer placed at the back to pressure the opponent’s lineup once their frontline weakens.

4. Little sister; as small as she is yet very powerful backline unit dealing -1 damage to its opponents and adding +1 to its health after every successful attack.

Opponent’s Line-Up

Summoner Aurelia

1. Dread Tafarian; a very powerful unit that serves best in the frontline especially in the first position, well known for thriving in longer battles. Survivability is a hallmark of this monster.

2. Mad Gearhead; quick and aggressive, breaking through armor till it touches health. Has a sneak attack making it more dangerous in the second position.

3. Wilhelmdale Deputy; very strong mid position bruiser assisting the opponents frontliners. Complementing Tafarian and Gearhead, such a thick combo.

4. Vicious Quilliun; a very dangerous backline threat capable of disrupting the less strong units.

Battle Breakdown

In the #first round, the two teams both positioned tanks to absorb punishment. My Nim Guard Captain tooking some brunt of hits from the Dread Tafarian, but not up to the level Beluroc Aegis took. The first round was a round of survival, with both teams testing one another’s strength and endurance. And as usual Beluroc Aegis taking all the hit.

In the #second round, the battle was gradually getting to shift. It looked like my team will stand the storm till the end because My Team Player ( Beluroc ) had a sizable health count. There were still couple of exchanges, till #round-4 there about before Beluroc was running down on energy. It was in that moment, Vicious Quilliun took advantage and brought him down. By then the harm has already been down to the opponents team and it was left with scrabs to clear. That was quickly down in the #5th-round ending with a flawless victory!!. Here is the link to the battle.

Why Beluroc Aegis is an Unsung Hero

Many players dismiss Beluroc Aegis simply because it does not deliver chaotic blows like other monsters do. But this monster is so special and this match shows it all. It is very durable even when the frontline is down it can take up the role of a tanker. Very perfect for a mid-Mana Caps as well as the high ones. Its ability makes it a good team player and can be a game changer. Just as seen in the shared battle. Even though not flashy, this monster carries with it the hero play, where it can lay down its life for the others.

Just imagine having a team player that is willing to put its life in danger for everybody else within the team.

That’s what makes it a true hero in Frontier Mode.

Tips for Using Beluroc Aegis

  • This monster shines best in the frontline, either first, second or third position so range attackers can be effective from the back.

  • Combining with key partners like Cards with Repair or Tank Heal will be a great push into full fortress mode.

  • Great in ruleset like Armored Up (provided with the extra layer of support), Equalizer (health advantage for him especially if there are other monsters with higher health), and last but not least in even Standard.

  • Best in ruleset that has to do with magic attacks hitting armor first hence advisable to avoid Magic Overload ones.

Closing Thoughts

Splinterlands battles always reminds me that there is always something new to discover when it comes to strategy-driven web3 games. Beluroc Aegis may not seem like the biggest superstars but its embodies the very heart of unsung hero, it depicts the act of selflessness. A monster that can be relied on know very well, that it will be willing to receive all the heat for the survival of others. I think it will be super awesome to have more of such kind of monsters.

That's it for now!!! Thanks for visiting my blog and see you in the arena!!!\
