Astrometica, a game that may surprise

Astroma is a game very similar to Subnautica but it takes place in space. After the accident, you find yourself in a base where you have the essentials: a crafting machine, food, oxygen, and water so you don't have to group up at the beginning as soon as you leave. You will have to search for resources and you see the vast world before your eyes with a sign where you have to get to the first materials and with a tutorial it tells you what you have to do: an oxygen tank to last longer, a jetpack, and the different tools to get materials. The game is simple with a fairly friendly start for new players and quite simple for veterans since you have a lot of visual clues.
From where you have to go and where you can advance in the game, it's clear that it's developed with Real Engine 5 and it works very, very well, with some small cuts in some areas as you arrive and discover them, like in the first checkpoint, so to speak, there are materials that you can use, and you can start building your base and be able to place the different machines that help you improve your equipment or make new tools. It's a game that will take you many hours, both exploring and if you're interested in learning about the history of the non-survivors of that area, reading the different records they left in their bases, and in this case, you do have to escape from there. Before going into whether or not it's worth saying that they gave me the key to this game, something that I really appreciate since I had my eye on it for quite some time, but it hasn't. That's why it's going to be spared criticism, and I'm going to start with the bad in quotes since the game is also in Early Access. I think something that should be optimized is the arrival. to the different zones.

As I mentioned before, since it slows down a lot and the camera gets a little crazy once a few seconds pass, everything runs perfectly without any low fps. The staking methods are something to be thankful for. The materials are a bit strange since you can only collect five at a time when for a metal or copper plate you need three copper plates and for most builds you need three plates. The betas at the beginning also give you three, so you'll spend a while farming materials and the backpack will fill up quickly, so you'll have to go back to base, leave things and repeat the process. The world looks pretty empty. You can see remains of minerals or supply boxes, understanding that it's space. But in the end, you only focus on the control points and the minerals you need, with nothing remarkable in what would be the landscape. As it happens with Subnautica or Forever Skies, if they add more elements or harmless creatures, I think it would improve a lot in this aspect. As I said, it's in Early Access and will surely add many in the future.

Now for the good stuff. The game is entertaining and easy to understand for new players, and even more so for those who have played and like these types of games. With a quick glance, you already know what you're doing. It has a very clean interface where you can see your needs. But it doesn't take up much screen space to see the different elements you're looking for. It has very good translation into Spanish and English, which, for a license, surprises me, since many games of this style either use Google Translate directly or don't translate it until the final game. The game doesn't deny at any point what its inspiration is, and you can tell that it's people who like these types of games because it has many carefully thought-out details that make it very entertaining, making the most important thing in exploration, also including the stories of those who came before you, a cinematic.

A very good initial feeling, with many unknowns about what happened both on the ship you emerge from and in the world. You can see the engine and that they've optimized it very well. The most important thing for me is that it has a future. I always say that a game can be better or worse, have its flaws, things that need to be changed, but when it has a really good idea behind it and is entertaining, it's going to be a great game if they continue to give it love, if they get a good community, both to contribute to the game and to support it, it's going to be a very promising game, and I would recommend it.
