Social Media Challenge || DIAMOND I
Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.
In this post, I share my last battle before heading to DIAMOND I.
Battle
The ruleset for this battle is UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL (Only Melee units are allowed to be used in this ruleset), UNPROTECTED
(All units lose their ARMOR and cannot give ARMOR boosts), and TAKING SIDES
(Neutral units cannot be used in this ruleset).
At first, I was confused about which element I would use in this battle when I chose DRAGON SUMMONER (Quix the Devious). As we know, when we choose Dragon Summoner, we are allowed to choose 1 other element besides Dragon. If I choose the Earth element, the options I choose to become a Tank are Pelacor Mercenary or Mycelic Infantry. But if I choose Fire Element, I'm even more confused because there are more options (Antoid Platoon, Forgotten One, or Chaos Golem).

If you look in detail, there will be some similarities between them. Yup, being in the UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL ruleset (where we can only use Melee units / dual-attack units that have Melee attack power) I needed a TANK that could withstand attacks, counter them, or reduce the damage that could be caused when receiving attacks from Melee units. Therefore, I chose a unit that has the SHIELD ability (which can reduce damage) or the RETALIATE
ability (which makes it possible to retaliate against an attacker).
There is another option, which is a unit that has a THORNS ability such as Djinn Chwala that deals 2 points of damage when the attacker injures it. However, because there is a possibility that the units owned by the opponent have more than 2 points of Attack power, this option is less favorable.
In the end, I decided to use Fire Element and chose Chaos Golem as TANK because it has the ENRAGE ability that can increase its attack when its HP is below 100%.
In the first round, my opponent's Vruz, Egg Voyager, and Tenyii Striker* attacked Agor Longtail, while my Vruz attacked my opponent's Tenyii Striker. My Tenyii Striker failed to deal damage to the opponent's Tenyii Striker so my Tenyii Striker took 2 points of damage via BACKFIRE ability.
Chaos Golem attacked Forgotten One but he immediately countered his attack using the RETALIATE ability. Chaos Golem's RAGE mode activated while taking the damage (which caused his HP to be below 100%). Luckily, Chaos Golem also fired back at Forgotten One and managed to defeat him.
The opponent's Carnage Titan could only land 1 of the 2 attacks he launched at the Chaos Golem. Agor Longtail healed his HP and attacked the opponent's Carnage Titan using a Magic attack. Then my Carnage Titan and Mordeus* defeated the opponent's Carnage Titan.
The opponent's Mordeus who was now in the first position managed to defeat Chaos Golem. But before it fell, Chaos Golem countered the attack using the RETALIATE ability and instantly defeated the opponent's Mordeus.
In the second round, my opponent's Vruz attacked Carnage Titan, while my opponent's Egg Voyager and Tenyii Striker defeated Agor Longtail. In this round, the conditions of my Vruz and Tenyii Striker were reversed compared to the first round. My Tenyii Striker managed to land an attack, while Vruz could not hurt the opponent's Tenyii Striker and had to take damage through BACKFIRE ability.
Mordeus also suffered the same fate as Vruz, where he took 2 points of damage via BACKFIRE ability for failing to land an attack on the opponent's Tenyii Striker. Carnage Titan defeated the opponent's Vruz using his first attack. Meanwhile, his second attack was dodged by Egg Voyager who was in first place and received an extra point through Vruz's MARTYR
ability that he previously defeated.
In the last round, Vruz defeated the opponent's Tenyii Striker. Meanwhile, Egg Voyager was only defeated by the last attacker (Mordeus) because one of the attacks from Carnage Titan missed.
Battle Review
This battle can be considered lucky because both teams use units that have the RETALIATE ability. The RETALIATE
ability has a chance of only 50% to counter attacks from melee units. so there is a possibility that the attacks made by the two units above are not countered by their targets.
I also felt lucky that I had hired Agor Longtail beforehand. And it turned out that he was quite useful for attracting the attention of some opponent units to land attacks on him. Like Egg Voyager, if there was no TAUNT ability of Agor Longtail, he could have attacked my Vruz (which is still in my favor too. Because if Vruz loses, my Carnage Titan and Mordeus* receive additional points)
