Social Media Challenge || Best Ruleset and Formation to use LOOKOUT
Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.
LOOKOUT unit that I will use in this battle is Demise Archon Faust.

Demise Archon Faust is a Legendary unit for DEATH ELEMENT in the REBELLION edition. It has fairly low stats despite having 5 Mana points. Even so, he is blessed with some unique abilities and can be useful if used in the right situation.
At the first level, Demise Archon Faust already has 2 abilities. The first is the LOOKOUT ability. LOOKOUT
is one of the new abilities introduced in the REBELLION edition. The ability is useful for reducing the impact of damage on nearby units by 1 point. However, LOOKOUT
ability can only be used if the target (which is a unit positioned next to it) gets attacked by a unit that has targeting abilities, including SNEAK
, OPPORTUNITY
, and SNIPE
abilities. As for the SCATTERSHOT
ability, LOOKOUT
can't handle it because attacks from units with that ability are unpredictable.
The second ability he gets besides LOOKOUT is the FLYING
ability. FLYING
ability will be quite useful to avoid attacks from Melee and Range units that do not have the same ability. As for attacks from Magic units, FLYING
units cannot prevent them (unless they have supporting abilities)
As for the last ability, Demise Archon Faust gets it when he is level 3. LIFE LEECH is an ability that can increase the max. Health of the ability owner when he can hurt/reduce the HP of the target. The amount of HP that can be received is half of the damage taken by the target.
So, what formation and ruleset is the best combination for Demise Archon Faust?
Battle
The ruleset for this battle is EQUAL OPPORTUNITY (all units received an additional OPPORTUNITY
ability), TIS BUT SCRATCHES
(all units received an additional CRIPPLE
ability), and BROKEN ARROWS
(Range units cannot be used in this ruleset).
In the bonus round, Chaos Jailer attacks the opponent's Helheim Demon. Chaos Jailer permanently loses his ARMOR due to the effect of Helheim Demon's CORROSIVE WARD ability, while Helheim Demon loses 1 HP due to the effect of the TIS BUT SCRATCHES ruleset and is affected by the poison effect of the attack by Chaos Jailer.
On the opponent's side, Baron Fyatt targeted his attack at Night Ghoul. Night Ghoul lost 1 HP due to the TIS BUT SCRATCHES ruleset and half his Attack power due to the effect of Baron Fyatt's HALVING ability.
At the start of the first round, the opponent's Helheim Demon lost 2 HP due to the poison effect he received in the previous round. Ever-Hungry Skull and Arkemis the Bear attacked the opponent's Helheim Demon, but they lost 2 ARMOR permanently after the attack. The opponent's Helheim Demon defeated Ever-Hungry Skull, but it was revived by Astral Entity using the RESURRECT ability.
Night Ghoul failed to land its attack on Helheim Demon. Meanwhile, my Chaos Jailer, Demise Archon Faust, and Helheim Demon* managed to defeat my opponent's (though it revived due to Astral Entity's RESURRECT ability).
Harklaw and Legionnaire Alvar failed to land their attacks on my Helheim Demon, while Baron Fyatt, Djinn Muirat, and Disintegrator managed to harm it. The attack power of Helheim Demon is halved due to the HALVING ability, while Disintegrator permanently loses 2 ARMOR due to the effect of the CORROSIVE WARD
ability.
In the second round, Ever-Hungry Skull and Arkemis the Bear attacked Helheim Demon again, but Helheim Demon defeated Ever-Hungry Skull for the second time. My Helheim Demon defeated the opponent Helheim Demon.
Chaos Jailer and Demise Archon Faust attacked Baron Fyatt and gave him poison effects, but Night Ghoul failed to harm him. Harklaw failed to land his attack on my Helheim Demon while Djinn Muirat managed to defeat him.
The attack from Legionnaire Alvar did not hit Arkemis the Bear, unlike Baron Fyatt who managed to hit him. Disintegrator attacked Night Ghoul.
In the third round, Baron Fyatt was defeated by attacks from Chaos Jailer and the effects of the poison he received in the previous round. Arkemis the Bear, Demise Archon Faust, and Night Ghoul attacked Legionnaire Alvar.
Legionnaire Alvar failed to land his attack on Arkemis the Bear. Harklaw, Djinn Muirat, and Disintegrator* attacked Night Ghoul.
In the fourth round, Legionnaire Alvar was defeated by attacks from all my units (Arkemis the Bear, Demise Archon Faust, Night Ghoul, and Chaos Jailer). The first-placed Djinn Muirat attacked Arkemis the Bear. Meanwhile, Harklaw and Disintegrator defeated Night Ghoul. Because they defeated Night Ghoul, Disintegrator could use the TRAMPLE ability and attack Chaos Jailer.
In the fifth round, Arkemis the Bear, Demise Archon Faust, and Chaos Jailer attacked Djinn Muirat. Djinn Muirat attacked Arkemis the Bear. Harklaw and Disintegrator defeated Chaos Jailer.
In the sixth round, Djinn Muirat briefly attacked Arkemis the Bear before he was finally defeated by Arkemis the Bear and Demise Archon Faust. Meanwhile, Disintegrator and Harklaw failed to hurt Arkemis the Bear.
Disintegrator was only defeated in the eighth round, while Harklaw fell in the eleventh round. The unit that landed the final blow to both of them was Arkemis the Bear.
Battle Review
Both sides were using Astral Entity and using Helheim Demon to attract the opponent's attention. But the difference is that the opponent is more focused on giving a lot of debuffs to all my Melee units so that their attacks cannot be maximized. Moreover, the opponent also uses Baron Fyatt who has the HALVING ability, where the ability will make the Attack power of the target reduced by half. In this battle, my 2 Melee units that should have been able to deal great damage were affected by the HALVING
ability, so their Attack power became very low.
While on my side, I relied on 2 TAUNT units placed next to Demise Archon Faust. So that if one TAUNT
unit lost, there was still another TAUNT
unit. In this battle, 2 TAUNT
units could survive longer thanks to Demise Archon Faust's LOCOUT
ability. Even Djinn Muirat's GIANT KILLER
ability, which should be able to deal 6 points of damage, can only deal 4 points of damage.
On another occasion, when an opponent unit with only 1 point of Attack power attacked Arkemis the Bear, Arkemis the Bear took no damage at all despite not having the SHIELD ability. And again it was all thanks to Demise Archon Faust's LOOKOUT
ability.
But the real reason they take less damage than they should is because of the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ruleset that makes all units get an additional OPPORTUNITY ability. And that ability is one of the abilities that can be handled by Demise Archon Faust who has the LOOKOUT
ability.
Those are the kinds of things I discussed in this Social Media Challenge. Thank you for reading to the end and see you in other discussions in next week's Social Media Challenge.
