Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: My Journey Sharing

Hello all, hope your first week of the year of 2024 had been nothing less than amazing. The theme of today's sharing will revolve around my Splinterlands Journey and when I think about it, how time had past real fast when we are all enjoying.

Humble Beginnings

During November 2021 which was during the pandemic years and with most situation globally, we are asked to reduce leaving our home in view of home easily COVID-19 spreads. And because of this, I was scrolling through YouTube and I chanced upon a channel that mentioned about the concept of play2earn.

After viewing a couple of videos within this channel and I was fascinated with the concept. And this was the start of my journey on Splinterlands where I bought the Spellbook.

Were things as rosy as I thought it should be? It wasn't. While trying the tutorial and also starting to play matches, I manage to win matches to bring myself to bronze 2 rating but I couldn't move to the bronze 2. The reason is due to the amount of CP I have is too low. And that moment I felt like so lost, because I lack CP and no DEC reward. Then I went to Splinterlands discord to look around and spotted a delegation channel. I put up a message and asked for delegation in that channel. Thank God, someone replied and agreed to give me a delegation to help me into bronze 2. The earning journey then truly started.

Joining Metafrens Discord
I was running through search engine to search for more resources on Splinterlands because I wanted to better my game and know what are good cards to own/rent. Then again, I chanced upon a post from @namelessnameless whom was trying to reach and helping fellow Singaporean Splinterlands players. I linked up with him and joined Metafrens Discord. From there, I have met many amazing people whom shared tips and strategy of the game such as @relf87, @blitzzzz, @babychimz and @genming. All of them including nameless were instrumental to my growth to become stronger and having more cards. There were weekly tournaments organized to help us learn better on our gameplay and also special support given to us to help us grow. With that, my account really grew and gaining CP week after week to qualify even for silver league. The support that I've had through this community is what brought me where am I today.

Beyond Metafrens
The next phase of growth came when I joined the Hive Pizza community where I joined my current guild Pizza 2. Another amazing community with active discussion in the discord and also growing together as a guild to improve our brawl results for better rewards. And with every brawl, I am seeing everyone giving their best in their respective frays to bring the guild as high in ranking as possible. Way to go PIZZA 2!

To better my gameplay, time to time, I also tune in to Splinterlands TV and other streamers to look at how they do their lineup. It allowed me to have a different aspect of why the streamers used certain lineups for various ruleset and mana limits. I have benefitted alot from this you should view them too if time permits.

Time Spent On Splinterlands
In the past I was more inefficient because I wasn't as good with my gameplay and all. But at this moment, because we are also limited by the energy, I usually spend about 30-40mins per day on playing and find time to read post from others in Hive blockchain and also view streams on twitch, which maybe take another average 45mins of so per day

Accomplishments/Goals
With the various help from communities and friends, I now play comfortably within silver league and hope to be able to compete in gold league in the near future. Will work upgrading my cards then subsequently attempt at gold league.

Beginners Advice
If you realized from my sharing, many of which mentioned about communities and friends. I think in a gaming journey, playing solo is boring. But when you have a community behind you and friends to talk to about the game, it gives you a more sustainable gameplay. So get out there, join a community, make plenty of friends and you will grow and enjoy this journey naturally.
