PIZZA 2 Brawl Report - 9 Apr 2025

Greetings everyone, hope all of you had good week thus far as we draw closer to the weekend. News on the new booster for Splinterlands is out and this will mean that soon we will be seeing new cards in brawls and also Chaos Legion rotating out of modern. Are you excited with what is to come? The latest brawl which my guild PIZZA 2 participated in had ended approximately a few hours ago and it is time again to look at how our guild did for this brawl on all aspects such as a guild, individually how each of the brawl matches went for me and the thoughts and decisions made behind how I put up each of my lineup to face my opponent based on the rulesets.

Since the start of Rebellion introduction, I have now changed my Brawl Fray to Fray 4 for my guild which is the fray that uses only Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers and Rebellion Cards. This is very beneficial for me because now that I only play in modern for my daily ranked battles, competing brawl in this format will be just like playing a normal rank battle. By participating in this modern fray, I will be exposed to more rulesets to refine my playing in daily rank matches. I have gotten more cards from the last end of season, hopefully there are opportunities for me to use them. Let's get right on to the battles of the brawl.

Brawl 1

Remarks
Selection:Aimless, deflection field and super sneak. Interesting ruleset combination which endedup me putting 2 gladius cards, Tatiana Blayde and the ever reliable Quora. Other cards that were selected such as Marksrat and Spirit Hoarder was to heal the backline and allow the Marskrat to die fast to give some stat boost to adjacent card.
Outcome:Win! A good set of cards that totally overwhelm my opponent and Quora was just so good, if only I can use her for every kind of matchup. And we quickly took out Venari Spellsmith which is cable to remove all the blood lust buffs.

Remarks
Selection:Lost Magic, Maneuvers and Lost Legendaries. Not many options when I cannot use Legendary and with such matchup, I chose to use Death Splinter since I can hide Trapp Falloway behind Cursed Windeku. Other cards in the lineup were designed to take other cards from behind.
Outcome:Lose. While I did have a plan to allow Trapp to grow, opponent was smarter to grow through sniping instead and a Cursed Windeku at the last position was such a big hint that they know I will have cards striking from the back. A narrow loss but definitely something to take back and learn from this where a melee card selected was a poorer decision than a sniper card.

Remarks
Selection:Need for speed, equalizer and holy protection. While this match has equalizer, it is a super high mana match so it doesn't matter if I need to pick some low health card to capitalize the ruleset. I do have sufficient cards with enough speed to plant my lineup and let's see if it is enough.
Outcome:Win! Opponent seem to have a lack of options for this matchup and only fielded 2 cards. This allowed me for an easy win.

Remarks
Selection:Ferocity and Explosive Weaponry. To capitalize such match we need to strike early and also strike more times, I played Quora with a marksrat planted behind it to get me some stat boost. I also have Larissa for double strike and Regal Peryton to strike early.
Outcome:Win! Strategy worked as I planned with all the strikes hitting early and opponent had no way to reverse it, allowing me to breeze through.

Remarks
Selection:Four's a crowd, Tis but scratches and target practice. I took a gamble and used 2 Gladius card especially when Quora is being banished. I had Larissa and Katrelba alongside Grund. All of which will do double strikes. First time pushing this out due to no Quora.
Outcome:Lose. This is bad and exposed my dependency on Quora. With a growing Quora, I couldn't handle and lost badly upon Quora grew. Quora is still so important.

Remarks
Selection:Aimless, explosive weaponry and earthquake. Quora is back online and I am so glad no banish on her for this match. Had 2 martyr detonators and others were mainly flying cards to handle the earthquake.
Outcome:Win! Plan worked well with detonation and the flying cards just breeze through earthquake while things went south for my opponent with cards being easily teared down by blast and earthquake.

Guild Final Tally

I was assigned 8 matches for this brawl and won 6 out of 8 of them. 2 fleeing opponent and an additional 1 wins due to unfilled frays from opponent guild. Bad decision making and a banished Quora resulted in the lack of a clear sweep but nevertheless still a very decent result.

While we did have many of us did pretty well, we slump 1 position downwards and landed at position 6 for this brawl. Reality is very cruel as we are really short of wins to push out result higher. All we probably need is just 2 more people to join us and clock up those frays to grab the free wins. Go PIZZA 2!

Closing
