PIZZA 2 Brawl Report - 4 Apr 2025

Greetings everyone, hope all of you had good week and now wrapping up to your work week to get ready for the weekend. The latest brawl which my guild PIZZA 2 participated in had ended approximately a few hours ago and it is time again to look at how our guild did for this brawl on all aspects such as a guild, individually how each of the brawl matches went for me and the thoughts and decisions made behind how I put up each of my lineup to face my opponent based on the rulesets.

Since the start of Rebellion introduction, I have now changed my Brawl Fray to Fray 4 for my guild which is the fray that uses only Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers and Rebellion Cards. This is very beneficial for me because now that I only play in modern for my daily ranked battles, competing brawl in this format will be just like playing a normal rank battle. By participating in this modern fray, I will be exposed to more rulesets to refine my playing in daily rank matches. I have gotten more cards from the last end of season, hopefully there are opportunities for me to use them. Let's get right on to the battles of the brawl.

Brawl 1

Remarks
Selection:Keep your distance, high five and holy protection. This will essentially become a battle of mage and archers since melee cards will not be able to take part. For this, I prepared my usual double martyr setup and included Flagulon Reinee which will be able to steal some damage through blasting on top of a boosted Oshannus which is so tough to fight against.
Outcome:Win! A proven combo and lineup that works relatively well many matches especially when Oshannus get boosted. Archers tend not to be able to land a hit on it, while the Void ability will help suppress the damage magic attackers.

Remarks
Selection:Keep your distance, reverse speed and unprotected. Decided to give my new card Larissa Kerato which I've obtained recently from my gladius pack pull a try and see if she can bulldoze her way through. Other cards that I fielded other than Gargoya Devil and all 1 speed, so hope that they can help get me the win through reverse speed. Though I did a small blunder in my summoner selection as Quix does help my opponent get faster in this ruleset due to the -1 speed. And I forget about unprotected where Queen Mycelia's protection becomes useless.
Outcome:Win! This is a close shave because I did double blunder in summoner and one card selection. However, thankfully opponent's Captain Katie triggered blood lust and gained speed, I was able to snipe through because of my lower speed and finally secure. Close shave before Captain Katie overwhelm my lineup.

Remarks
Selection:Four's a crowd, holy protection and what doesn't kill you. For me, it is a call for Quora and some of my stronger earth cards which included healing and also Thanalorian Blade which had served me well in many matches with its good opportunity attack.
Outcome:Win! Quora held up well and boosted by Goblin Psychic's support in healing, cleared off both of my opponent's cards with ease. Quora still a very instrumental when it comes to brawl with the healing and double attack.

Remarks
Selection:Earthquake, Target Practice and Unprotected. When I saw this matchup, I knew I had to put in some flying cards especially when there will be no protection armour so I fielded 2 cards and also a martyr card to boost Larissa and Runic. Somehow I like how Larissa works and decided to just include her in. I used Grum Flameblade for the front line and hopefully will not see any big issues.
Outcome:Win! A boosted Larissa hits really hard and my lineup held up well before nailing the fatal blows onto my opponent's card and bring home the victory.

Remarks
Selection:Rise of commons, maneuver and equalizer. Since it is a big mana matchm I decided to go with a standard squad with a mix of melee attackers, healer and also a repairman in Swamp Spitter for armour. Gladius wise I chose Releanor to carry from the 2nd position with Riverboat Captain to get some blast damage from magic.
Outcome:Lose. Opponent's Sea Stalker made the difference, it was able to snipe out my key magic attacker in Riverboat Captain and my healer to give my opponent edge on healing and reparing. That 4 damage was painful and that made it so hard for me to reverse the outcome. Nice play by my opponent.

Guild Final Tally

I was assigned 7 matches for this brawl and won 6 out of 7 of them. 2 fleeing opponent and an additional 1 wins due to unfilled frays from opponent guild. A brilliant play from my last opponent in placing Sea Stalker to take out my utility cards from the match saw me losing that match and unable to maintain a clean sweep. Though I lost, it is something good on the learning front since snipe is indeed there to take out cards that typically do special work in the lineup in terms of healing or other functions.

While we did have many of us did pretty well, we inched upwards in our final position in the brawl and come in at position 5. Win count wise while our win rate is really awesome as always, always more than 50% and consistently performing well for all of us individually. We have the skills and players to do well but unfortunately not the numbers required to clock up all the frays and ended up giving away free wins. Go PIZZA 2!
