Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 16

Prelude
A brand new week has started and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. Conclave Arcana had been in our midst for a few weeks now, how are you adapting? Have you developed new strategies or had amazing match ups that showcase the strength of this new set? However, it is still important for us to understand more on what Rebellion had to offer and boost up the new modern, and that is why, we continue diving into those cards and look out of for opportunities for integration with Conclave Arcana.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 2 epic cards from earth splinter in today's review.

Croire

The first earth splinter epic card that we will reviewing today will be Croire. Interestingly, this is a card that I rarely see on the battlefield. Not sure if it is due to the league that I am playing. By right if the cost of this card is not ridiculously cheap, it should be rather good and viable so let's look deeper. I think this is a rather decent card but will have to be at higher levels. At level 1, this card has weapons training and flank. And this is a rather good combi if you want to let an attack-less card gain some attack and for that card to strike from 2nd position. This should yield a good combo and be very viable in the gameplay. Next will be at level 4 when this card gains healing and already at 10 health. This further enhances the survivability of the card and ensure you have cover for the card that got weapon trained before it being exposed. Not too bad a card to get but do work towards higher levels to have better value for this card.

Satha Toledo

The next card we will look at will be Satha Toledo. Ok this is something that I do see on the battlefield often. This is almost like becoming the new Goblin Psychic but differs from it because when this card hits the first position, it can no longer attack. This card is slightly lower in mana cost compared to Goblin Psychic and significantly faster that it, which I would say might not be exactly a good thing at all circumstances. This card has an interesting ability, which is camouflage which will help it's neighbours reduce damage from sneak, snipe and opportunity. I think it is not bad especially when this card can help sustain cards near it but typically I would even put this card right at the back which might reduce its efficacy for protection. Not too bad a card but I do think Goblin Psychic was a better option and at a cheaper rate.

Assessment
The 2 cards that we assess today are cards are generally strong and make good utility card. Croire personally I think have loads of potential especially with the large amount of attack-less cards that came in Rebellion which will suit the weapons training methodology. Whereas for Satha Toledo, while I think might not be as good as Goblin Psychic is important for its tank heal as this is a very important ability that is needed for good sustainability.

Rating wise for both the cards would be rather decent but will not be in the range of above average region zones. Croire would be the better of the two and it deserves a rating of 3.9/5 in view of the good combination of abilities that compliment each other and will be able to give good value to the lineup. For Satha Toledo, while I think Goblin Psychic is of greater value, it is not a lousy card and would deserve a rating of 3.7/5 since every healer will be useful in one way or another and will help in making lineup last longer just that when there is rise of commons, you will not be able to play this.

The 2 epic cards look great and I do think will be good additions to your collection to ensure you have an array of abilities at your disposal. Both cards will do better at higher levels, so hit into the market and bring a copy home.

Wrap Up
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, if you are uncertain, there is training mode available for you to test these card out and try out how it can perform before purchasing or renting.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern as we journey on playing Splinterlands.

I love your style when you give a clear rating and practical advice: “Try it out in training before buying or renting.”
