It is splinterland's moment and we are almost at the end of another season ( less than 24hours), this time around I think I over perform unlike pervious season because right now, I'm 200 rating away from Diamond 2, truth be told, I do think diamond 3 upward is one league that need serious and also very hard to play in if you don't have some certain op cards especially summoner to boost your gameplay, but that isn't truth, as long as your strategy is solid with the few cards you have in your collection and also based on which card types you love playing with, you are really good to go. When it come to improving your gameplay, the most important thing is to always have maxed cards to play with, unlike those days when things were still easy and we have card limit per league, you get to face players only in your league and within the same card stat limit. It was very easy to increase your rating and your wins, I do play in Gold league back then without renting since my cards are gold league based.

Things are now different, newbies will always ask what to do to increase their rating since most of their opponent even in lower league are entering the battle with maxed or high leveled card. If you can't beat them, you have to join the by getting some maxed card which are pretty cheap to improve your game play. One strategy I love the most is the Speed/health combo strategy, this is one strategy I learnt while still playing in the wild format, since you can use any cards, you can easy pick up cards with extra speed ability (swiftness) or summoner with extra speed, but when I started playing modern, the speed strategy isn't that common because we have few cards that can add speed to your gameplay. As a newbie, if you pick up this strategy, you will have good improvement to your game play

I had this particular battle today which had 3 ruleset which were Target practice which give magic and ranked cards the snipe ability, we also had Taking sides which won't allow us to use neutral cards and lastly was super sneak ability which give sneak ability to melee cards. This is a two way stuff to consider, first is the ruleset, snipe and sneak, then the card type to actually use in the battle, if you are using melee cards, it can easily be predicted since as a player, I will be expecting you to use melee cards so I will want to counter you but bringing in target practice is the confusing part because I have to guess if you are using magic or range cards.

In this battle, I decided to went in with my water element while using Possibilus the wise as my summoner (which is maxed), I picked Diemonshark as my frontline card with the retaliate ability as my main focus then support it with Commander Slade which I was expecting to attack since it will get the reach ability from my summoner and enfeeble ability will help reduce target melee strength after attack. There is no way I will see a super sneak ruleset without using a Coastal Sentry as one of my card, having a double strike with piercing is a blessing in this state. After thinking it through, I decided to pick magic cards over range because most range cards in water element can't attack in front position. I picked Nerissa Tridawn first which was a mistake in position because I should have placed Djinn Oshannus in that position and lastly I picked Shock tropper as my backline, picked this cards just to boost my speed and also make use of the 4 magic strength, I was expecting my opponent to destroy it before the Zapped reaction start.

He gave me some shock though, instead of bringing magic, he came in with range cards, not just normal range but with strong attacking strength, looking at his choice, I figured out a weak point which gave me some advantage, all my cards have adequate health except shock trooper but somehow he sacrifice his cards health for strength. Attacking him was now easy for me, but one thing I figured out was his summoner which came in with piercing and +2 speed. So he attacked first and destroy my Tridawn while I did the same to his Tinderlock, at round 2, I could easily see the fate of the battle, his close range card are now weak and all his health weren't that enough to last him for long.

I was able to destroy his last 2 backline with sentry double strike and easily killed the rest to win the battle. Using sentry was a plus for me which make my attack 7 in total over his 6 and using weaker card in terms of health just to have card with stronger attack wasn't favourable. Easy win for me
