We're starting this post dedicated to the @splinterlands community with a new design, and this time it's Firecaller's turn. We'll be using his official art as a reference.

The power of fire that this character emanates is undoubtedly one of the elemental forces that destroys everything in its path.

I chose this design because I wanted to challenge myself with creating something eye-catching while also being able to differentiate each element with variations of the same tone.

To begin our new project, we'll capture our idea on a blank sheet of paper using a pencil, colored pencil, or charcoal. It doesn't matter what material we use, as this is intended to provide a guideline for how we want our design to turn out.

DIGITALIZATION

After finishing our hand-drawn sketch, we digitize it by scanning it or taking a photo with our phone. In my case, I used Paint Tools Sai to create the artwork, as I'm very familiar with it. It allows me to organize layers of linework and paint, giving me more freedom when correcting errors in the initial design.

So, let's take our sketch as a guide. Although there will always be changes depending on the concept or perception I want to capture, everything starts with an initial idea.

COLORING

After having our digitized sketch, we now move on to coloring. We use the original art as a reference. However, I'll add colors and elements that characterize my art, giving it a unique shine and color to make it all stand out.

In this process, I used many techniques. The main one is to colorize the hair with key and dark colors on a separate layer, as this will be the background or base for creating the hair on top of these tones. I also blended and blended them, since I wanted to create a flame-like look.

I also changed the clothes a bit because I wanted to make it a little more dynamic than the feeling of a previous battle, which resulted in a slightly imposing, yet impassive expression.

LORE

Upon joining the order of the Augur Monks, each new initiate is assessed for talents and interests. Firecallers are specialists that show a strong control over fire magic, as well as selfless compassion for others, and are tasked with protecting those in need. They defend the order, the land, and others from threats such as raiders, monsters, and even raging wildfires.

To be a firecaller is to learn extreme control over emotions, which can rage out of control just as quickly as a flame. Firecallers spend time each day deep in meditation, focusing on a state of tranquility. Because of this, they can be difficult to read and understand. Stoic and centered, they are idealized for their magical prowess and mysterious nature.

The forces of the Chaos Legion surged through the streets of Fireboro like a swarm of beetles. Armor shining in the moonlight, they moved as one, setting fire to the once-peaceful town. Their war machines trundled across the plains, dark silhouettes against the night sky.

The firecallers strode out from the temple of the Augur Monks at the apex of the town. The flames below gleamed in their eyes. They surveyed it all with calm calculation.

The town was in danger. It was time to act.

They sprinted down the hillside, silent but for the soft rustle of their cloth robes. As they reached the site of the destruction, they raised their hands in unison. The flames reared up, writhing and dancing on the rooftops. As one, the firecallers slowly lowered their hands. The inferno fought back, but under the intense command of the firecallers, the flames were quelled to mere embers.

The firecallers turned their attention to the Chaos Legion.
