Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Support Articles - Custom Challenges!
Namaste to all fellow players of Splinterlands!
This week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge is about custom challenges. Because it's a great way to spice up your battles in the game, test out different strategies, and make friends within the Splinterlands community. It sounds amazing, right? Then let's talk about this topic in depth today!
First, let us understand what #SplinterlandsCustomChallenges are.
Generally, to play this game you click on Play Now and then click on Battle, after which the system automatically finds a random opponent for you and through auto filters a random ruleset of your battle, mana cap, allowed cards, elements, etc. is finalized. In such battles, it is complicated for you to practice any of your strategies repeatedly because every time your battle takes place in a completely different environment.
Let's assume that you now know something about magic attack types and based on that knowledge you may have achieved a beautiful victory in some battle by making a strategy. However, still, on the basis of that one victory, you cannot say that your strategy is really a good strategy that you can use in any environment, under any ruleset, and in any mana battle. Because depending on the conditions of a different ruleset you may be restricted to using certain types of cards or summoners, it may be that in your next random battle, the mana cap may not allow you to properly use your strategy, and it may also be that your opponent is a pro player who has far better cards than you.
So how can you go about improving your strategies?
Well, the answer is Custom Challenges Where you can customize your battle with your favourite ruleset, mana, cards, elements, etc. by challenging your opponent of choice, this allows you to practice and improve your different strategies.
You can see the page that opens after clicking on PLAY NOW from the Splinterlands home page in the screenshot above. Look at the option marked in the white circular area in the top right, from here you can take advantage of the custom challenges feature.
As soon as you click on it a popup named 'NEW CHALLENGE' opens on your screen.
This is the place where you can create a completely different battle environment of your choice. There are 3 options available on the left,
Firstly in the OPPONENT section, you need to enter the username of the player you want to challenge in this custom battle, then from the ALLOWED CARDS dropdown you can choose certain types of cards of your choice, and through the third option you can choose the SUMMONER LEVEL you want for your custom battle. But that's not all, you can choose many more aspects for this Custom Challenge as per your wish and for that, you will have to click on MORE OPTIONS given on the right side of the same screen.
As soon as you click on it, you get the freedom to set some more aspects as per your wish. Through the first option, you can choose the payment currency for the battle. By default it is DEC, if you want, you can also change it and choose CREDITS. After this, you can also set the Mana Cap, Ruleset, and any elements as per your wish for this battle.
Fun and creative rulesets to try in your Custom Challenges!
You can try different creative combinations of all aspects while enjoying your custom challenges, which will not only make the battle more fun but also help you understand your strategies in more depth. These are some of my ideas which I use very often myself:
Restrict both players to any one element and choose the Standard No Modification ruleset. For example, if you are selecting for Death element then your opponent will also have to build his team with the same element and in this way, you will be able to understand that one element more deeply.
Choose one of your favorite rulesets such as 'Noxious Fumes' so that you know what to pay attention to in team selection. It is possible that your opponent also knows it, but when you practice your strategies with your known ruleset, you will be able to understand all its nuances properly.
Restrict the level of cards and summoners and choose the lowest cap where you perform best. We don't know how well your opponent plays this, but your best strategy can be tested this way under certain conditions.
Now after deciding everything as per your choice in a battle, imagine how easy it will be to practice the strategy of your choice and I don't think I need to say that practice is what makes you perfect, whether it is about this game or life.

This is a great feature and allows me to play with cards that I don't have.
Exactly, also you can restrict your opponent on any ruleset or element. It's really a great way to practice new strategies!
Never tried this one yet I'm usually playing in brawls with rented cards. I will check this out and see if it suits me. Thanks very much for the post. Vonak !BBH
It suits everyone who likes to practice new strategies because you can customise the whole environment of a battle. Good Luck!
