Drawings and paintings from my old hemp sketch book
I think this may be the best sketching/watercolor pad I have ever owned. I purchased it roughly 20 years ago at A.J. Hastings in Amherst Massachusetts while I was living as a live-in caretaker, and it has traveled with me to Los Angeles, back to Massachusetts, to Maine; where I worked as a CNA, to LA, back to Maine, then back to Los Angeles again. With hardly a buckle, it has taken years of pencil, pen, pastel, watercolor, and gouache.
It has been mangled, folded, bumped about, and had coffee and other beverages spilled on it. This pad is a warrior against destruction and a defender of form, color, and deep unconscious expression.
I have acquired a few other pads from this company. While all were very nice, none were the well of my inner energy as this particular book.
There are many watercolor illustrations, some are from stories I was developing. "The Norbal of the Gorbal Vats" and "The Purple Water" They got a bit dark.
This one is a bit more disturbing than intended, but then so were my attempts at relationships.
Some of the images in the book are barely worked on. I won't show you all of them, here are a few unfinished "Twirble" pictures.
I also made a few fun sketches from life.
This piece below "Giant White Faces Come Down From The Sky" was conceived in this sketchbook before being digitally altered. You can purchase the first 10 of 50 NFTs of the piece for only 3 Tez here
Here is how it looks unaltered.
You can purchase Greenfield Paper Companies products on Amazon or directly from the company make sure to get the correct product; Hemp Heritage Sketch Pad with 180 GSM. The others are also good, but not as strong.
