Madeira - Travel diary: Day 1 - Leipzig, Frankfurt to Funchal
Off we go at last! The flight from Leipzig to Frankfurt was short and pleasant. In Frankfurt, however, we had little time to change planes and had to hurry to the next gate. On the approach to Madeira, we were all thrilled by the breathtaking view of the island.
Unfortunately, there was also a small disappointment right away, as our suitcases did not arrive with us. But we didn't let it get us down and immediately picked up the rental car to start our drive to the hotel in Funchal.
On the way to the hotel, we quickly picked up toothbrushes and contact lens solution so that we would be ready for the next day. The Hotel Aqua Natura is located directly on the sea and has a beautiful view of the ocean. We felt at home right away and decided to end the evening in the hotel's roof-top restaurant.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere simply incomparable. The view of the sea at sunset was a meditative moment that we will not soon forget.
Despite the small start-up difficulties, we arrived well in Madeira and are now looking forward to the coming days, which will hopefully be just as beautiful as the first evening.
