Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge: Dax Paragon

avatar

Introduction

This week's battle challenge promotes Dax Paragon, Life's low mana monster with strong supporting abilities in Amplify and Affliction and a decent health pool of 5 when fully leveled up. All of that for only 2 mana!

Dax Paragon is incredibly powerful in combination with Pelacor Conjurer or Blinding Reflector against magic monsters if you're not using Grandmaster Rathe.

Unfortunately, I don't own this card so I had to rent it to complete Weekly Battle Challenge. I decided to go for a level 4 copy for 10 DEC/day.

Battle Ruleset

In this battle I decided to use the following monsters:

  1. Blinding Reflector - My favorite low mana tank that offers an insane amount of health and armor for only 3 mana. On top of that it even offers Magic Reflect in silver league battles and above.

  2. Venator Kinjo - Another great support card for the Blast ruleset because of the Reflection Shield, it also brings speed manipulation which is invaluable.

  3. Dax Paragon - The star of this week's battle challenge. In this particular ruleset offers 2 magic damage for 2 mana and has decent health. It also Amplifies Blinding Reflector's Magic Reflect. If it had Affliction, this battle would've been over even faster.

  4. Venari Crystalsmith - Archery monster with 2 damage and primary healer in my lineup.

  5. Stitch Leech - Sneak monster with Life Leech which is amazing in Blast rulesets.

  6. Uraeus - Another Sneak monster with a deadly Poison ability.

Conclusion

Both teams looked fairly similar because both of us used Venary Crystalsmith, and the double Sneak combo with Stitch Leech and Uraues. I decided to use Blinding Reflector instead of the Pelacor Conjurer because it has a bunch of armor for 1 more mana and brings Magic Reflect ability as well. Time mage and Venator Kinjo both provide speed manipulation, but in Blast rulesets, Kinjo is almost always auto-include.

In this battle, Dax Paragon provided Amplify ability for my Blinding Reflector which was important to get rid of the opposing Time Mage in 2nd turn of the battle.

It also scored a double kill on turn 3, and another kill on turns 4 and 5, for a total of 4 kills in this battle.

At level 5 Dax Paragon gets Affliction ability, which would've been of great use in this battle, making opposing front-line tanks unable to be healed by Venaari Crystalsmith.
