Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Grandmaster Rathe vs Astral Entity - Battle between Life and Death

Upon us is the battle between Life and Death! The battle between Grandmaster Rathe - a student of the Library of Enlightenment, founder of the M. G. Exploration Company, and master of the shadows, and Astral Entity - the ever-observing Eldritch Entity and Forbringer of Death.

In Modern Format, Grandmaster Rathe usually brings sustaining lineups armed with lots of Magic damage. Astral Entity shines in Melee-focused rulesets where Magic is forbidden.

Let's see how this battle unfolded!

Battle Link

Since I don't have a Fire deck, my choices for this Battle were between Rathe, Possibilus, and Thaddius. Possibilus Melee's heavy lineup was hard to pull off this game given the Thorns ruleset, so I decided to go for Rathe over Thaddius.

My lineup included only 1 Melee card in Vulguine taking advantage of the Scavenge + Revive combination. The rest of the team consisted of supporting and sustaining Magic and Archery monsters, with Pelacor Conjurer leading the way.

My opponent also decided to take only 1 Melee monster - Harklaw, which is strong against Melee-focused lineups with Demoralize, Shield, and Thorns in this particular Battle. The rest of the team consisted of Riftwing and mostly supporting Magic monsters.

Grandmaster Rathe's Amplify ability was useless in this battle, but my opponent didn't take advantage of it since his lineup doesn't include any Magic Reflect or Return Fire monsters.

Furthermore, the +1 Amor and Void Armor combination was also countered with Astral Entity's -2 Armor ability, making me unable to capitalize on Adelade's Armor Repair.

Astral Entity's Dodge ability was almost useless since my lineup was magic damage-heavy, and Revive was mostly wasted since Magic attacks ignore Armor.

Big difference between myself and the opposition was that my opponent brought maxed-out cards to play, and I used my Gold-level deck.
